I didn't say the nippy dummy halfs get a break I said they're the reason the bigger league forwards ..... Petro ..... Mason etc do
they'd be caught out when they're tiring if they weren't & the same would happen to your loose forwards in union playing league I don't care how fit you think they are ..... they would struggle first up.
and I'm talking about taking them off the Rugby Union training paddock now & plonking them straight into an NRL game theres no suggestion they'd never be able to cope..... in time they would.
I didn't say you said the dummy halves get breaks, I said that they don't because they play the equivalent of scrumhalf in union, but the other forwards in league make use of the interchange. But if union forwards were to struggle first up it would be due to them adapting to the different style of play but certainly not fitness... I don't think you realise that loose forwards run pretty much non-stop in a game rugby union. Now I'm not saying that they wouldn't need to be interchanged if they went to league, but I would be almost certain they would be fitter and last longer than league forwards just due to the nature of rugby union requiring players to play longer on the field, whereas league more so has players coming on for shorter bursts but have more of an impact due to them coming on relatively fresh. In fact I would love to see Jerry Collins play just one league game... I have no doubt he would consistently run it just as hard as someone like Moi Moi but stay on the field at least twice as long.

Its hard to judge how league forwards would go in union with the huge difference in rucks/mauls, not to mention the joke scrums they have in league, in respone to someone saying thurston would be our answer to carter: Thurston is a fantastic player in league but in union carter is of a far higher calibre than thurston

I'd like to pay tribute to him, for going out on top. 1. 16 years in First Grade NRL, wiht no career threatening injuries. 2. Gentlemanly behaviour, not involved in scandal, always polite 3. Good family life. OK, he's 36 now, but in Union, he would have good at 6, 12 or 13.

Johnathan Thurston would be the perfect five eigth for Rugby. Billy Slater would be good, though his kicking would have to improve if he was going to play fullback Brett Stewart the same. Matt Cooper would be a very good defensive 13 Inglis, Folau as previosly mentioned Justin Hodges, Darren Lockyer (would kill it despite his age) Lance Hohaia would make a good 9 Matt Bowen

I reacon Cam Smith wud make an awesome Halfback...His kicking skills wud take pressure off the first five, his dummy half skills wud be very handing wen feeding the backs from a maul or ruck and his pace and aggression wud be useful on runs from the back of the scrum.
Here is my XV of league players in union positions
1. Michael Weyman 2. Mark O'Meley 3. Petero Civoniceiva 4. Simon Mannering 5. Antonio Kaufusi 6. Frank Pritchard 7. Toni Carrol 8. Roy Asotasi (C) 9. Cam Smith 10. Jonathon Thurston 11. Wendell Sailor 12. Steve Matai 13. Israel Folau 14. Billy Slater 15. Greg Inglis
16. Carl Webb (Hooker) 17. Jason Ryles (Prop) 18. Steve Menzies (Lock) 19. Andrew Ryan (Loose Forward) 20. Cooper Cronk (Halfback) 21. Scott Prince (First 5/2nd 5) 22. Karmichal Hunt (Pace Man)

I recon the Ogre would suprise us with his hooking abilities and the accuracy of his line out throw. plus we need someone of his size in that front row cause Petero and Weyman dont weigh as much as most union props haha and Big dell was an obvious choice for that reason

Danny Buderus would make the best openside.
Always the first man to the tackle in league and hits like a mack truck.

this and openside flank were the toughest positions to pick...admitedly Matai may not be the standard no.12 but i compare him to Nonu...someone thats strongish on defence and can break the line

Thurston is way too small for a 10 and Petero way too tall for a prop. Put Hannant prop and get O'Meley out of hooker. Johnson, Bird or Gallen would fit nicely into hooker.

THURSTON Height 179 cm : Weight 83 kg GITEAU Height 178 cm : Weight 85 kg Very similar in size, whats a couple of kgs. PETERO Height 193 cm HAYMAN Height 193 cm Hayman one of the best props of the last decade and is the same height as Petero, just because the general Aussie prop is short and fat aka Matt Dunning doesnt mean all props are. and I stand by me reasoning with having O'meley at hooker...and ur suggestions are extremely weak, Bird and Gallen can both get out of my life and Johnson would get killed in scrum time
