Welcome to the AT & T National. The way this tipping comp works is very simple, you can join any week you want to and is you have to tip who you think is going to win and who will be the best aussie. The only rule is that you can't pick the same player twice in a row(that goes for both winner and best aussie). Then you get points for where your tip finishes. This is the scoring system: 1st Place- 10 points 2nd Place- 5 points 3rd Place- 3 points 4th Place- 2 points 5th Place- 1 points Best Aussie- 5 points Remember to get your tip in by friday morning for best aussie and who's going to win. Here's the link to the field: http://www.pgatour.com/tournaments/r471/
Pick: Kim Best Aussie: Goggin

And Bubba is pretty impressive, when you look at how he performs in US Opens and the like - he's not just a big hitter, he's got some game. Bit more fine tuning and he could take the next step. Out at the local course yesterday I was showing my missus where Bubba's average drive is compared to mine (and I hit a decent ball). She was staggered.

Stuff the tipping comp - I just hope vossgl gets all the points this week. That would please me more to see Allenby win.

I really think he can nail Tiger in this event. He has performed very well on this course and his putting looked pretty good to me last week.

Yeah, well he better shoot something good tomorrow or it will only be a 2 round tournament for him... Really thought he'd do well at this event, especially playing with his mate Appleby in the first couple of rounds. Hez is right about the putting though. Look at Allenby's stats / Tour average / Tiger: Driving Distance 294.0 / 285.6 / 293.0 Driving Accuracy Percentage 65.10% / 61.77% / 62.76% Greens in Regulation Percentage 68.69% / 63.74% / 65.67% Scrambling 61.69% / 57.64% / 63.74% Putts Per Round 29.89 / 29.08 / 28.50 Comfortably beats Tiger tee to green, but is just shaded in scrambling (though still much better than tour average). Scoring average: Tiger 69.64, Allenby 70.57. So it comes down to putting, course management, and minimising damage on a 'bad' hole, I'd have to say.

Good stats Belfegor. I think if you add scoring average you'll find thats where the maximum discrepancy between the two players are. Interesting to note that Tiger's driving accuracy is better than average!
IMO the most useless stat is driving accuracy percentage... players are that good these days that unless its US Open style rough they'd still be able to get club on the ball with a reasonable amount of spin.

Interesting stuff there B. My conclusion is just about any player on the Tour can win on any given day therefore the stats act as a guide for consistancy over the season and also as a guide for form at future venues and alerts the player where improvement is required. I wasn't aware that those two were playing together. Excellent round by Apples because I would imagine both players would have been pretty fired up. Competition between the two has always been keen going right back to junior days.

agree re driving accuracy stat. Usually Fred Funk up there on US tour & O/Malley in Europe. What have they won in years ?
