I'm breaking my big crowd phobia to go to the Cox Plate this year. Usually I cap it at about a Turnbull sized crowd but have mates coming down from the bush this year so will enjoy lining up for a bet, a beer and a ***** all day.

Is anyone else going?

Nah, never been. Live near Caulfield and am a Flemington week man, but have never been to the Cox Plate.

I keep looking at the potential field and look for value, but my head just says Hussler for some reason. Although it flopped last start, I just think class will prevail given a good barrier

Ive been to them all at least once and it is wierd how they are all so different in atmosphere

Cox Plates a real Northern Suburbs crowd...ie not as many hot chicks, less possers, who give a rats about fashions on the field,

I will definitely be there along with the rest of the Darby Racing team! Have booked the flight for my wife and I. Even if OUR JOAN OF ARC was to be pulled out of her campaign for one reason or another we will still be attending Mooney Valley on what should be another awesome experience. Can't wait! Never been to the races in Vic. I'm sure I won't be dissappointed.

I'M GOING!!!! I've only been to Melbourne once and that was for 3 days for 2003 melbourne cup as a 15-year-old so I am extremely excited beyond belief, if only the field wasn't looking so deflated! I'm coming down from brisbane, besides the cup have only attended race meetings here

For those who have been... is it hard to get a spot to watch the race if you are not in members? I imagine it is hard to go from mounting yard to flat/grandstand as their will be hoards of people wanting to do the same thing.

I am very glad there aren't as many silly girls doing fashions at the plate; I may be a girl, but at least i'm there for the racing, i have no interest in the fashion

I'm from Adelaide, and my Footy club has being going the Cox Plate since 2000, can't wait for it again. Always a messy weekend!

Favourite Cox Plates out the ones I've been too, would have to be SUNLINE'S last run. 35,000 or so people jammed into Moonee Valley,

What Footy club you from???? We have got a couple of guys that played SANFL down there who are playing for my club (Glenmore Bulls) now in Rocky. You heard of Ben Burns or Dean Woosnam?

This will be my first footy trip, i'm guessing it will be the best 4 days of my life. Mates, beer and horses = 10/10

Considered getting a marquee spot?

more expensive yes, but less people, better food and drink, and a better place to watch from. I wont be going regardless because moonee valley is the only track that doesnt cater for student concession, so i cant afford it, but ill watch it on the box

Its even like that in the members. Go figure!!

Money Valley is definitely the best Boutique race track in Oz. Im a member there and love it.

Only have to watch out for the CUB's(cashed up Bogans), they get a few beers in them and go feral. The funny thing is that they are mostly from Essendon and Moonee Ponds area which is right next to the track!
