Look, don't get me wrong, I love league, but outside of club football, league is a joke. At state level you have all these Kiwis/islanders and New South Welshmen playing for QLD. At international level you have Tongans playing for NZ and Tonga, Samoans playing for NZ and Samoa, Aussies playing for Ireland/Scotland/Fiji/NZ. There is no loyalty to state or country anymore.
Clean up the mess and make it one rule for all, you play for the state or country you were born in. No Exceptions!!!

Roger I garuentee you we didn't have these problems 100 years ago, 100 years ago there were only 4 inetnational teams, England and Wales were the first in 1895 then NZ in 07 and Australia in 08. All this rubbish started around 1995 when a shit load of new teams were formed like Scotland, Ireland, Tonga, Fiji and Samoa.
The problem we have is we have players who want free trips to the WC and admin that wants as many Australians as possible in all sides. First thing that needs to be done is to sack Geoff Carr.
Ofcourse a big help wopuld be giving "minnow" countries more meaningful game. I think this WC will start that, a pacific and european cup are both likely for next year aswell as France being added to the 4N. The Euro Cup wikll most likely be Wales, Ireland, Scotland and either Russia or Lebanon, since the 4N is NH next year expect to see a few "tour games" for 4N countries against these 4. Also a Pacific Cup has been talked about in the USA featuring US, Tonga, Samoa, Fiji, PNG and Japan. Japan will not happen though, I have spoken to a JRLA representative and he said they won;t go because the idea of a country with 2 domestic teams playing the likes of Tonga is laughable. South Africa or Cook ISlands would be a much better option although South Africa are likely to be toured be Wales, Ireland and Scotland next year.
So hopefully this will go ahead.

The way i read your question was that you want Inglis to play for NSW.. Why would you want a player who isn't passionate about putting on a blues jersey and turned it down for a maroons! I'm sure he realised what he was doing.. NSW have enough talent just sh`it selectors etc..

Origin is not what it used to be, epsecially in NSW. As for the RLWC, you are 100% right, no one really cares. The pacific island nations have been propping up NZ rugby league and Rugby Union for years.

Gotta love how you refuse to mention that Queenslanders have played for NSW like Peter Sterling.

yeah i agree i wouldnt want a turncoat on the side but if that is the rules then players should be allowed to pick which state they want to represent at the start of their nrl career regardless of where they played their first footy

OK Sterlo, not many others though is there. The list of outsiders playing for QLD would be as long as your arm.

I like the rule you represent your birth state/nation. No exceptions.
Where was Karmichael Hunt born?

I love the fact how you conveniently forget your facts and history. For years before 1980 Queenslanders were playing for New South Wales in the matches. For example Arthur Beetson played for NSW before things were changed. The first ever game of Queensland v NSW was in 1908. You had 72 years of dominance with OUR players playing for YOUR team. Things got changed and it was made fair. It's been 28 years compared to that of the 72 years of dominance. Harden the fu ck up. The more you complain, the more it proves NSW struggle without Queenslanders in their side. It's pretty evident in the past 3 years now isn't it?
It was 1980 and Senator MacCaulliffe had had enough. The Senator was a Queenslander and was sick and tired of all the good Queensland players (Arthur Beetson being one of the best) playing State of Origin. Only they were playing with the NSW side. In other words, Queenslanders were playing against Queenslanders in State of Origin. Something had to be done. Now The Co ckroaches had the pokies but there was no money for The Canetoads. So The Senator did something. He rallied a few of his mates such as Di ck 'Tosser' Turner, and many talented Queenslanders who wanted to come home and play for their team. Thus The Mighty Canetoads were born.

Actually timmah you are a little wrong. SOO was born in 1980. Thats where everything got blurred. Because before that it was the NSWRL v QRL. You are right when you say that the NSWRL had more money and better players. NSWRL recruited alot of players from QRL. The best bit about SOS is the fairytale and the hype built on it by the media. The players did there bit as well. Mate v mate state v state. In the begining origin was where you played your first senior game. but the problem now is so many young kids are being moved interstate at a young age and they are forced to play their first game in a state they didntwant to represent. i know for a fact Ash Graham played a couple of a grade games in cairns before he moved to parra so he was eligible for QLD. I dont think its fair that tony carrol, brad thorn, adrian lam, etc play for qld. The worst thing is that SOO is the pinnicle of our game. no match is better and i honestly think k hunt would of played for NZ if he wasnt a chance of playing SOO. i think we should bring back the super league tri series or maybe have a Island of Orgin for the NZ players. this would also build bigger interest in there countries. UK could do the same with wales, ireland, scotland and england i bet it would be a big tournament for them as well. i think RL needs to build things like this first before they jump into a competition with one extreme favourite. thats just my little rant
