This is great news, I have long been a fan of Blackie. I think he should have been in the All Blacks 3 or 4 years ago. Will be a star in a mediocre side, and might finally get the recognition he deserves. I say put him on the end of year tour. I know that is against the rules, but who cares, he will be playing here next year, and lets face it we have no stand outs to be McCaw's back up.

Dam why go to the Blues? Come down south; Canterbury or Otago. Was a great player but not sure now but a big gain for New Zealand Rugby....

Yeah Canterbury really need another openside................... He would have gone there to be in a team that will win a few, possibly even challenge for the semis, and he's guaranteed a start there with Braid gone.

Hmmm Locks will be Ali and Boric - Jay on the bench. Ali has confirmed he's going back to Auckland now that Nucifora's gone. Nick Williams is gone - Kaino will either be at 6 or 8 - with the option at the other one open. Justin Collins may still be around, if so he'll go to 8 with Kaino at 6. Gopperth will be in contest with Lavea for the pivot role - with Lachlan possibly getting a couple of cameos. I can actually see Toeava getting more centre action, with Stanley inside him and Tuitavake on the wing - sorry Rudi, bench for you boy.

Woodc.ock Mealamu Afoa Williams Boric Budd Blackie Kaino Moa Lavea Tuitavake B. Stanley Toeava Rokocoko Williams
Rudi Wulf and Tuitavake will share time on the park, I reckon. Budd will make the team as a blindside flanker, Gopperth will be benched in favour of Lavea who will start to step up, Munroe will be the utility bench player.

15. Paul Williams 14. Joe Rococoko 13. Anthony Tuitavaki 12. Isaia Toeava 11. Rudi Wulfe 10. Tasesa Lavea 9. Taniela Moa 8. Viliami Maafu 7. Josh Blackie 6. Jerome Kaino 5. Anthony Boric 4. Ali Williams 3. John Afoa 2. Keven Mealamu 1. Tony Woodc.ock
Maafu was the most impressive player in the NHB team.... Lavea will get time ahead of Goppereth.... Atiga will never play for the blues again... and the backline they will drop Stanley because the rest of the backline are already All Blacks bar 10/15. Don't know why people are already saying this is a useless team??..... doesn't look bad to me....

Bloody awesome, good to see Blackie back, is a force to be reckon with. now that the Reds have sign-up D.Braid, Blackie will fill the gap and then some, hes big strong and an awesome openside flanker. Auckland Blues are looking good in 09'
