I expect both ROK and Warnock deals to be done tomorrow.
Warnock will mostly likely go to the Blues in return for Pick 24 and either a fringe player or a swap of latter round draft picks. What's holding up the deal is that Melbourne have clearly a better offer, but Warnock doesn't want to go there. If he was agreeable to going to the Demons that deal would've been done on day 1. Obviously both Freo and the Demons are holding out hoping that Warnock will give in and accept a move to the Dees. Obviously he really doesn't want to go, so there will be a last minute trade with Carlton. At least that is my prediction.

whadda'ya know - Carlton wanted him more than just pick 24 and were prepared to offer that little bit extra. Well done Freo to eek out everything they possibly could in the trade.

Don't know how you'd say that - Carlton said they would offer pick 24 and no more. They offerred more. As I said all along, I would've taken just pick 24, but no harm in asking for more just to see how badly they wanted him. There was never a question of getting pick 6, just how much more the could squeeze of Carlton for him.

don't think carlton are worrying about the later pick they traded as he would be equal or worse than robbie warnock

Its also about what Freo need. Any exta draft picks are good for Freo - the more the merrier - we have 8 players to replace. Any extra draft picks are good news. I think Freo have played the brinkmanship game pretty well, they have got more out of Carlton than what they were offerring, and on the other hand they haven't let him go into the PSD for free. I reckon Freo have got just about the most possible out of this deal. Freo were going to lose him whatever happened, so it was a question of how many draft picks they could get for him.

also this deal frees carlton up to have a crack at O'Keefe in the psd because they don't have to draft warnock now so you could say carlton come out on top if they get O'Keefe in the psd aswell

So you could say it benefits both clubs then. I disagree that Freo are the losers in this deal, they have got some good draft picks out of it. Freo are turning over nearly a quarter of their list this season, the focus is very much on reloading via the draft. It is also about a change in drafting strategy, the new focus is about drafting local players, players that aren't going to do a Warnock on us, or a Croad, or Jeff White etc - do their 2-3 year stint and then demand to be traded back to Victoria. Warnock wanting to go back home is just a symptom of a failed recruiting policy, even West Coast couldn't keep Judd - so get what you can from Warnock today and then move on with a new strategy.
