Including the start of this season who's picked up some absolute bargains in your mind?

for I
Vedran Corluka, Manchester City 07-08 and again with Tottenham 08-09
Hard to single one from a team of bargains considering also Elano, Petrov and Micah's step up.

Martin Skrtel, Liverpool 07-09
For the bargain basement pick-up when funds were denied by a pair of spackheads, has really developed quite a long way and that's on the back of stepping up last year too. Quite the surprise packet for my mind.

Shannon Cole, Sydney FC 08-09
Fair enough he's been exceeding along rather nicely in the NSW Prem Leg, but his step into the "big game" must be rather underwhelming for him as he's torn shred's out of everyone he's been up agains.
I believe harshly done by to miss out on a Socceroos spot over Robert C. and that's not being one-eyed, plus it's talent like him that should be pushed forward.

Kompany, Roque Santa Cruz, Ramsey (arsenal - will be a great bargain)

For how bad sven was at international managing, he had a great eye for talent. Most of his man city buys were great bargains.

Michael Kightly -- playing non-league for Gray's Athletic, we signed him for 25,000 and now he's being chased by 5 Premier League clubs and is playing England U21

would be a tie between skrtel and santa cruz. if you're talking about an 07 summer signing that performed in the season, then its santa cruz, because he did nearly as good as torres, at half the price. but if you're talking about a bargain buy who has so far developed into class, skrtel is hard to go by.

Steed Malbranque may yet turn out to be a bargain for Sunderland. He's been playing well lately.

But the award so far has to go to Zaki (in my opinion at least)

I think Rafael Van Der Vaart at 5 million euros is too good to ignore, should have demanded far more from Real Madrid, Hamburg should have, but because he had one year left on his contract Real paid peanuts.
