Wow a few shocks in the team and plenty of different opinions on here.....
I'm a bit shocked that both Hunt and Thaiday missed out, and I can't believe Fitzgibbon made it.
The rest is not so bad.
I can't believe people knocking the selection of Williams, Campese and Glen Stewart. How often do people complain about rep teams being picked on reputation rather than form.
Williams finished the year in great form and no doubt went around a fairly long list of blokes in his last 2 or 3 efforts. I was amazed by how good he was against Vatuvei in the semi and he was better than that on Sunday. He's proven to be a big game footballer already with solid, aggressive defence and he doesn't make many mistakes. He's quick, strong and I think the other wing spot was always a problem area that had to go to the first bloke to stand up.
Campese had an amazing back half of the season. He was playing on one leg for the last couple of games, but I honestly believe that if the season was two or three games longer he would have won the Dally M. I'm not sure exactly how they're going to use him as they seem to have plenty of halves and they may have been better off selecting a specialist hooker as if Smith gets hurt then we're going to struggle (I know there are a few guys that could fill in there admirably, but no specialist).
Anyone that doesn't realise that Stewart deserves his spot in the squad obviously hasn't watched a game of footy for the last two or three months. I'd have Stewart well ahead of Watmough who had a few periods this year where he wouldn't have been picked in park footy (actually it was just a bad fortnight for the army of one, but it was really really bad), Stewart is the best ball playing back rower in the competition and adds a lot of versatility to the squad.
Also think it's very odd how everyone thinks that we're going to win it so easily. Obviously none of you watch the English comp. They're going to have a gun side this year and if anyone thinks we're going to walk all over the poms knows very little about the state of the game.
I also think people will be surprised with the quality of football we will see throughout this world cup. I am hopeful that teams like France, Tonga, Fiji and PNG can do really well, not saying they'll cause upsets but I think they'll be more competitive than most seem to think.

On a serious note, shocked Anthony Tupou isn't in the squad.

I would have had a million on myles not beig there if you had offered any sort of odds. Clearly Thaiday and Hunt missed out due to of field efforts and fair enough. Thought Roberson was unlucky to miss out ot his team mate considering he got Three in the GF. Fitzy is defo a shock and though the Qlders' will hate me i just can't believe Tate is there.

Tate has been one of the strongest players for the Warriors this season he definitly deseves his place.

This forum is all about reputation. Every team list put up on the thousand threads about rep selection the past few weeks has had nothing but big names and media driven reputation. Thank fcuk the selectors have chosen a few players in form. Should have had Cronk over Thurston too!

For me the luckiest guy to be there is Fitzgibbon. I would have had Thaiday or Myles in his place.
Other than that I wouldnt call of any of them particularly shocking selections. Good to see a side selected predominantly on form for once IMO
