Whats so bad about that team? That looks like a good team to me. I think prince and Campese are a halves combination that could show up lockyer and thurston. not a bad foward pack at all and strong bench players. You've also put in alot of players from manly who won the premiereship year by beating the Storm by 40-0. That's a great side really.

Not in comparison with the top team they can pick from that squad.

Does anyone else think Campese might get a game at lock? I reckon hed go alright there

Good call, was thinking the exact same thing. Would obviously require an injury to Gallen for it to occur, and who wouldn't mind seeing that happen? Campo is unlikely to get a shout at 5/8, too many players ahead in the pecking order (Lockyer, Prince & Inglis). The selection is just reward for the form he has showed since Todd Carney was given the boot. I've no doubt that the Aus selectors see him as a future Aus 5/8, and this acknowledgement is intended to show him that.

What interests me though is how 2 through 5 will line-up. They will find it hard to drop either Stewart or Slater out of the team, so Slater might get a gig on the wing (don't see Stewart out there). Hard to see both Slater on and Gidley on the bench so i think it;s a realistic possibility. Hodges and Inglis select themselves in the 3 & 4, & Folau will be outside Inglis. The question is will be the other winger? For mine it's a battle between Slater, Monaghan & Williams.

Observations:

1. josh perry? glenn stuart? fitzgibbon? WHAT THE *****K..........

2.i also really think gidley is a better player than slater and stuart ...doesnt have the electric pace but is a much better ball player and muh more influential on the field. ...bench is fine for him with slater at fullback.

4. At the end of the day australia willwin easily bar a disartrous game where theyc ompletely choke. it doesnt matter who they pick. so who cares..the kangaroos side has always had ludicrous inclusions and ommisions so i suppose there is no point losing sleep over it with frustration. how the *****k did perry/g stuart and fitzy ...*****kin fitzy for christs sake make the best team in Australia? oh wel forget it!

Spot on about Gids. He is the best F/B going around at the moment.
Hindy deservse a spot more than fitzy

after a few good months - lets just chuck him in the australian team.and he hasnt been outstanding for 2 years otherwise he would have at least been mentioned for origin.

well done he can pass a footy.he is a footballer afterall.every forward in the team can offload.aussies dont need him to distribute the ball.

watmough is damaging at both ends and adds alot more value to the squad than stewart.

stweart just isnt strong enough to make a dent and do the damage needed at test level.

Yes after a few good months.... He is probably the form player of the competition and I think that it's about time that the selectors picked a bloke that's in form. Not knocking Watmough as I really rate him, but Stewarts recent form has been better than Choco's....

You seem to have a real problem with this selection and I don't know why. Most people would agree that Stewarts form has been awesome and he deserves an opportunity.

Team V NZ game-1...
1. Billy Slater
2. Brent Tate
3. Justin Hodges
4. Greg Inglis
5. Israel Folau
6. Darren Lockyer (c)
7. Johnathan Thurston
8. Steve Price
9. Cam Smith
10. Petro Civonceiva
11. Michael Crocker
12. Paul Gallen
13. Glenn Stewart

14. Kurt Gidley
15. Brent Kite
16. Anthony Laffranchi
17. Anthony Watmough

If that's the team surely they would have Hodges next to Folau because Tate and Hodges equals 2 blockers that have pretty much watched there wingers catch the corner kicks all season and you can't expect Slater to get there while they both shield the ball.
