Also Australians in general are exposed to a large variety of sports. Im sure that people wont be turned off the sport after one game.
However Storm should be very worried about plummeting down the ladder. Expect there to be a lot more talk of canning the team. i dont see how u can say the minor premiers with the best coach, one of the best squads, and some of the best recruitment/talent spotters in the game will plummet down the ladder next year...melbourne will make top 4 next year..easy...that is of course pending on minimal injuries to key players, like any teams chances these days in the nrl

League is a bigger worldwide sport than afl and the NRL is a leading player in that. Unfortunately NRL players get paid the least and NRL attendance is the worst in the world. In sydney at least.

After living in Canberra for 2 years I can tell you the only people interested in AFL are interstate public servants who have moved to the ACT to take up on the governments generocity. They might fill Manuka out on a sunny Sunday afternoon once a year but what else is there to do in Canberra? Um who else lives in Canberra? Quote: A second Sydney AFL team has about as much chance of taking off as an airworthy concord jet, look at the AFL ratings in Sydney this year and the attendance at their home semi final. Iron Chef outrated a Sydney Swans televised game during the season according to the daily telegraph. The NRL pulled off a masterstroke by getting in on the Gold Coast market before the AFL decided they'd have a crack, they will struggle up there too. The NRL tried to set up a Melbourne team by giving them special concessions, allowing their illegal tactics and everything else. Each to their own I believe. Sc*rap the Storm whos run has well and truly ended judging by tonights result, give their team to a 2nd Brisbane side or the Central Coast who support it and deserve it, leave the second rater states VIC, SA and WA their game which hasnt progessed in years and give the progressive states of Australia being NSW and QLD and also NZ more of the game they love. Facts are facts, Rugby League will never die worldwide, AFL will never take off worldwide, at least I have a world cup to watch. What was it their fourth or fifth attempt? Yea a real masterstroke....

I know it makes sense to expand but they have chosen a soft sport to play and that can't be changed . I say Fu*k em who needs em 2 states that love it is enough for me. If it's Losing money Remodel Repackage Rebuild the greatest game of all . 2 states combined can make it work there's absolutely no excuse for it going to sh*t. Lets face it Qld and N.S.W. sh*t on the rest of Australia.

Exactly how can a storm supporter bag out crowds? 11,000 a week for a team as successful as yours, is absolute shi.thouse.

chargers were just the giants /seagulls taken over by the arl and moved from tweed to gold coast. Then as part of the super league settlement to get rid of some teaams they were an obviouse choice for missing out.

Yeah you're right, my bad. I thought they died and then the ARL brought them back as the chargers the next year.

League will never die out its a international game with many super rich famous supporters. if the worst comes to the worse there will be another super league comp. League would do very well in north america, asia tv wise. League is said to be the most toughest physical team sport in the world. That will always appeal to people. Knowone outside Australia gives a f*ck about afl

You are a strange one, aren't you? Not everyone who lives in Canberra is a public servant - in fact the majority are not. Not everyone who lives in Canberra was born elsewhere

Just to correct you, as this is a common confusion - AFL (Australian Football League) is just the name of the competition, not the sport. The sport is just called Australian Rules Football, or Aussie Rules. Similarly, NRL (National Rugby League) is the name of the competition where Rugby League or League is the name of the sport.

Actually you'd be suprised. Many countries now play Australian Football. Look here: http://www.afl.com.au/Development/International/tabid/10238/default.aspxHere is a bit of info from that site anyway: ■34,000 people play in structured competitions globally across Junior, Youth and Senior level ■More than 30 structured leagues exist ■The game is played in over 30 countries (including Canada, US, Britain, NZ, Sth Africa, Japan) ■Major tournaments in each calendar year include: •USAFL Nationals •Dubai 9’s tournament •Asian Championships •CEAFL Championships •Narita Cup •EU Cup Just posting this so you can see that Australian Football is not just exclusively played in Aust and is growing worldwide.
