Not quite a black booker, it was just a very nice run i thought. Second start after winning its first. Was a little slow away and Merthens just sat last, and let it roll home. On a day where the rail was out 16m (i think), not many were making ground, but she got home well enough. Don't think they were trying too hard.....
Different jockey, same result. Hard one to work out. They don't seem to be trying

Mine are: Heart Of Dreams (watch for the Autumn) Light Vision (as someone else in this thread already explained) Forensics (Myer winner right here) Guillotine (Not really a fan of the horse, but the run yesterday made me sit up and take notice - I think it may be overlooked with 'people' seemingly making the first three and Efficient all the rage)
They're my main four from the meet.

Next run down the staright back it Swick puts in a run like that in every prep. He's not one of my favourite horses lol, but he is an expert at making the "back me next-time" runs... and he wasn't the only hard luck story out of the race (straight races, bad luck happens to someone everytime ) Mind you, Swick ran a similar race in the Gilgai last year and then came out and won the Salinger pretty easily. I daresay that's the plan for him again?

lol "Should-have-been-a-3-length-winner-with-a-decent-ride" for a horse who has never won a race by anymore than 1L. Like I said, he's an expert at the back-me-next-time runs Straight races (assuming he's onto the Salinger next) are usually/often contested by big sized fields. Swick needs to be ridden cold. He has a devastating finish, but is always massively reliant on luck. Perhaps it wasn't the best ride, but I think it's a tad harsh to lay all the blame on the jockey. The horse is one dimensional. One imperfect split second decision from the jockey and Swick's winning chances plummet and he's resigned to being merely a hard luck story. Again. We know Swick a quality sprinter. He has been for a couple seasons. He always seems around the mark in Group races and should be respected as such, but in my eyes he always seems to have an excuse, the "what if's", the "slaughtered by the jockey" calls... I'm not trying to be Johnny Raincloud on your blackbooker, go for your life, there's no doubt that with a clearer run yesterday he'd have probably won and with even luck he'll probably give his next assignment a mighty shake - just be wary is all. The other two placegetters will be fitter next run too.

Ran 3rd in RockHomeLate's race at sale last Thursday after sitting 6&7 wide for the majority of the race and still was getting to the line strong to go down a long neck. Was only its 1st start but i was impressed, infact i think we connected.. Anyway i see its racing in the get out stakes at Morphettville tommorow which seems a bloody long way to go for a 2nd starter just to have a run, so i expect it to go close.
Watched closely yesterday punta, saw her first run as i was interested in the winner "rock home late" and noticed her flashing home. Looked the goods yesterday too with 300 to go and then Flipped out and started running sideways. dont know how the trainer will fix that but she still boxed on after her little episode so ill be sticking with her.

Onemorenomore is a two year old to keep an eye out for flew home in the Breeders plate, definitely one for the black book. Fritz's Princess who also flew home, ran the fastest sectionals of the day, came from 8th at the 400 to nab Hot danish on the line ran the last 200m in 11.72 the only horse on the day to break 12 seconds for the last furlong. She was also first up.

Maybe one to keep in mind for the Golden Slipper next year.

Yes, I saw Daintree Duke, what a run it was, put them to bed in about 50 metres once it got clear running. Possibly the Black Booker for the Spring. Will be very competetive in town. Didn't see chasm's run

RAISE - Not sure where they are heading with this mare but she hit the line today better than anything else in Sydney. Given that she was 1st up for 5 months, did win the Adrian Knox back in the Autumn over 2,000 metres and then failed in the Oaks behind Heavenly Glow, there may be something in store for her over the next coming month or two.
