Welcome to the Fedex Cup and the last of playoffs with the TOUR Championship. The way this tipping comp works is very simple, you can join any week you want to and is you have to tip who you think is going to win and the best australian. The only rule is that you can't pick the same player twice in a row(that goes for both the winner and best australian). Then you get points for where your tip finishes. This is the scoring system: 1st Place- 10 points 2nd Place- 5 points 3rd Place- 3 points 4th Place- 2 points 5th Place- 1 points Best Aussie- 5 points Remember to get your tip in by thursday night for best aussie and who's going to win. Here's the link to the field (top 30): http://www.pgatour.com/r/stats/info/fec.html?02395Pick: Kim Best Aussie: Appleby (it's going to be one or the other)

I like the idea of the Fedex Cup layoffs but it's poorly done. First of all there shouldn't be 144 guys making the playoffs to begin with. That number should only be 70. Maybe instead of the long points sytem, maybe give a stroke advantage. So First might start at 5- or something and then slowly cut the field each week.

Yeah not too sure how well the stroke advantage thing will work though. I think it overweights the first three playoff events to be honest, and the reward for playing well for the remaining how many weeks before hand pales to insignificance.

I don't think it will be around in a couple of years time. The prize money is too extreme, god damn first prize $10m , second $3m .... how much more do the top line players need to earn. I say shave off a fair proportion and give it to the Tours that need it (ie Aust PGA Tour) and revert to just simply the money list. Reason: too many players are deprived of a game at seasons end.

Sadly that ain't gonna happen, but you're spot on about the format.

The points system in the FedEx Cup is certainly biased towards lower ranked players. If you finish 144th at the end of the regular PGA season then your points are reset to 92,070 for the playoffs whereas if you finish first you are reset to 100,000. Now the points for each playoff event are double what they are in the regular season so if the last ranked player happens to have a great first up playoff event and wins and the first ranked player has a bad week and finishes outside the top 70 he will be overtaken by that last ranked player. Pretty silly. There needs to be a much greater points discrepancy between first and last. The player that finished first might have won 10 tournaments in the reg season yet he can still be overtaken by last place in just one playoff event. I think the main weakness in the points system is the fact the points get reset for the playoffs, they should instead be carried over and more points should be allocated to winners throughout the season.
