In light of Sebastian Vettel's breakthrough Grand Prix victory in Monza, it came to my attention that next year he would be partnering up with our very own Mark. Personally, when judging the skill level of a driver, one of the more significant criteria I use is his performances with respect to his team mate, as comparison is easier, given they drive the same car. That said, it will be very interesting to see how Webber fares next year, as in my opinion, Vettel will be his toughest challenge, even tougher then the raw Heidfeld. How do you guys think Mark will do with Vettel as a team-mate?

I think they will be even matched but obviously Vettel has more raw talent and has shown nerves of steel to win his first race in Monza. I think psychologically Vettel certainly has the edge and Webber must start the season well or his F1 career could be over, or at the very least, the crossroads.
Mark must perform and also Red Bull will have more funds next season as Toro Rosso are being sold so Red Bull need to be a clear 4th best car and maybe even trying to challenge BMW as well.

Definitely his highest quality teammate to date, who, in my opinion, has some of the best raw talent in the paddock - Alonso, Lewis, Rosberg have a high amount as well...vital year for him, however even if he is beaten by Vettel, i can't see him leaving the F1 paddock...He has such an impact in the sport (GPDA) and is one of the few that speaks his mind...plus the experience he has will help any team build and develop a car (plus he's not too old)...Which is why i reckon RBR should, if relations between he and Vettel are still good come the end of 09, lock them both in to long term contracts...depending on Vettel's year however, that may not be possible as i reckon BMW will be going gun hoe to try and get him back

Haha bad move going to Williams.... I think he should be able to compete with Vettel, generally beats his teamates, Vettel will prob have the edge come season end, Mark will not be disgraced tho

Pizzonia, Heidfeld, Rosberg etc all had big wraps but Webber was able to outshine them quite regularly - remains to be seen whether he can consistently match or better Vettel's raw speed.

I wouldn't say its his judgement year next season, he has already proved himself which is why he has been in the sport for 10 + years. No doubt Vettel will be his toughest challenge but we'll just wait and see how he goes. I thought that he might struggle a little against Rosberg a few years ago but he cleaned house with Nico, and has beaten each and every teammate considerably year after year since coming into F1, Heidfield being his closest competitor.
We'll have to wait and see, go Mark!

Vettel is only going quicker than Red Bull this year due to the engines. The aero and other components are used in both teams. Ferrari have continued engine development this year as Massa and Raikkonen were in title hunt. Renault stopped development in order to focus on next year. Webber has not lost to his team mate in his years in F1 and i expect that to continue.

Well Webber actually got more Points 36-28. But, BUT, Nick Heidfeld was injured the last 5 races and so got 28 points from 13 races, whereas Webber got 36 from 18 races, also Heidfeld got 3 Podiums to 1 and also got a Pole Position. During those last 5 races Webber got two 4th's and a 7th. Which means he got 12 points so if you minus that it's 26 and so Heidfeld comes out triumphant to me. Also two of those three Podiums for Heidfeld were 2nd's. Even this year he's had four 2nd Placing's.

Also i might add, at Sauber in 2001 he outperformed Raikkonen, in 2002 it was Felipe Massa and in 2007 Kubica. The guy is a star and if he had a race winning car, i think he'd win the Championship.

Yes Webber won 9 to 5 but he didn't capitalize. Still very evenly matched but overall i give it to my man Heidfeld.
