Quote:HREE high-profile Brisbane Broncos players are at the centre of a police investigation into an alleged ***** scandal that has thrown the NRL finals series into chaos.
Broncos and Queensland State of Origin stars Karmichael Hunt, Darius Boyd and Sam Thaiday were allegedly named by a 24-year-old woman in a *****ual assault complaint made to police on Saturday night, The Daily Telegraph reports.
The three were allegedly engaged in *****ual acts with the woman in the toilet of a Brisbane nightclub and she complained to police after one of the players allegedly began filming with a mobile phone.
The revelations sent shockwaves through the NRL yesterday, with betting on the finals series suspended while police sifted through the allegations.
The sordid antics allegedly occurred in the toilet of the Alhambra Lounge nightclub in Fortitude Valley after Broncos players embarked on a drinking session to celebrate their victory over the Sydney Roosters the previous night.
Sources told The Daily Telegraph, the three engaged in oral ***** with a woman in the men's toilets of the Alhambra Lounge after a day of drinking at the Story Bridge Hotel.
Two of the players are then alleged to have had *****ual intercourse with the woman while the third recorded the acts on a mobile phone camera.
Police said they received a complaint from the woman on Saturday night which was followed up on Sunday with a written statement from the woman alleging she had been raped.
Detective acting Superintendent Tony Duncan said police were "trying to piece together the whole cir*****stances" surrounding the incident.
Broncos chief executive Bruno Cullen confirmed three of his players had been interviewed by police yesterday.
"As soon as the Broncos were made aware of the allegations, an internal investigation team was formed," he said.
The NRL had been on track for a bumper second finals weekend, kicking off with the Broncos' showdown with title favourites Melbourne on Saturday night.
Police are understood to be angry that details of the investigation were leaked. http://www.news.com.au/story/0,23599,24350820-2,00.html

People have got to remember that Broncos players are seen in as celebrities in Brisbane nightclubs, especially with women. The amount of times I've seen chicks get all giddy just because a Hodges or Hunt is in a club. I can pretty much guess what has happened: Some chick has gotten wasted & then saw the Broncos players. She would have acted all s.lutty, trying to get their attention. She would have been the instigator in the whole thing, probably persuaded them to go to the toilets to "show them a good time". After they were 'finished', she's started sobering up, and realised she just acted like the biggest s/lut and f.ucked 3 dudes, and then decided to call rape. There would've been no rape involved. She would have consented. The only thing these Broncos players have done wrong is they put themselves in a very vunrable and stupid position. They desearve the bad media coverage they are getting, but they don't desearve to be called rapists or accused of *****ual assult.

I'm p|s.sed!!!! What a bloody stupid thing to do. Einstein and so forth can bugger off with their moral high-ground if all this is accurate: if everything was "all good" until the mobile phone came out, then you can shove your comparisons with glassing someone in the face. The four of 'em should have found a hotel room, and at least 3 of them should have known better: they get warnings and speeches about this stuff all the time. Still: this ain't good. Hope no one has a wife in that group So - who's a lawyer? If and what could we expect in regards to charges? I'm assuming the police are just being cautious and getting the facts straight before proceeding - why go to them otherwise? I think we've just lost a few players for the finals at the very least. f<ck.

How can these players be so fu/kn stupid...It is extremely frustrating...I am a big fan of Hunt, Thaiday and Boyd, but they have definitly lost respect after this incident...Who would be stupid enough to do something like this in the first place let alone in September, the month of finals football!!!

No charges have been laid yet, but could be once the investigation is concluded. I cant belive how stupid these players have been, putting yourself in that situation is not the smartest thing to do but knowing they have some celebritiy and still decideing to film it, what were they thinking?
I wonder if all this will get pinned on 1 guy, the guy who filmed it could be in major trouble if the other 2 say they didnt know or consent to being filmed. I dont think charges will end up being laid but could go either way a bit 50/50.
Anyone got any idea if the Broncos will release Thaiday and Hunt? Big test considering they have cut lesser know players for much less serious incidents.

Mate, we all like to get some and me and my mates used to go out trying to pick up together but there was no way 2 of us would stand there pulling ourselves watching another mate get blown in the mens toilet before its our turn. If they really wanted it why not go in 1 at a time? No one could have filmed it they still could have had there fun and it would have just been another SBW type toilet story.
