Renouf. More mobile, has a better vertical leap and is a better decision maker. Taylor takes too long to get the ball from hand to foot.

Interesting poll 08. Taylor for mine. Has been out of sorts of late but our very best ruckman (in a purely ruck only sense). Renouf is better around the ground, but I have concerns as to whether his body can stand up to the rigours of AFL finals footy. Taylor has taken several strong marks in defence over recent years to secure hawk victories, one that particularly comes to mind was versus Geelong at Aurora last year, which sealed the game for the Hawks. In a long term sense definately Renouf though. Will be a good back up ruckman for everyones dreamteam next year.

I voted for Taylor due to his experience, but what are the ages of both players? Really is irrelevant because the premiership window is open, but could they just possibly want to use Renouf as a long term plan? Hawks fans, give me some answers!

Taylor is 26 and 201cm Renouf is 20 and 200cm Renouf seems the long term option.

Long time no argument Taylor is around 25, wheras Renouf is 20ish. You are quite right, Renouf is part of our long term plans, as is Max Bailey (Number 18 in the 2005 draft) But he is currently recovering from his 2nd knee reco in 2 years, abd unfortunately not looking good for an AFL career. He would have been a higher pick but for injury concerns. A lesson that the Hawks have now learned several times between himself, Mitch Thorp and Beau Muston(harsh but true). Taylor is one of the best tap ruckmen in the comp, (according to that dipsh1t Mike Sheehan) but is very average around the ground. I cringe whenever he has the ball! Compare Chris Bryan!!!! He does take some good defensive marks however. Renouf is young and still has a lean frame, but he is showing that he has excellent ball skills as well as being very good with his tap work. He has only played a handful of games and in my opinion is probably still too 'undeveloped' to be playing in the heat of the AFL finals. I would expect that by this time next year Taylor would have lost his spot permanently to Renouf, but at this stage this year in the business end of the season, experience and a stronger body must prevail IMO.

Cannot agree at all. Drop Stokes? you have got to be kidding me. Its not what he does when he has the ball, its what he does when he hasn't got it. The defensive pressure that man provides us with is worth 3-4 goals a game whenever he plays. Recently, Campbell Brown has been filling that defensive forward role, along with Michael Osbourne. Stokes came in last week because Gilham was out, meaning we needed Browny down back. It is not worth sacrificing a very good defensive player for the sake of playing another ruckman, who essentially is not required. The only case I could mount for both playing is if Croad doesnt't come up. We would need another tall defender, and Robert Campbell would have to do the job. This would be far from ideal.

Would go for Taylor by the sounds of things. King doesn't do too much else besides ruckwork, so therefore Taylor can be used a lot more, and they can just use him to plug some holes down back. HAWKS 2009 wrote:Hey tc. Long time no argument ??

Couldnt have said it any other way D.I! I am quite impressed with Renouf lately. That is why Taylor hasnt been getting a game. Renouf came in replacement when Taylor had the flu and impressed so much that he has cemented his spot.

Taylor for mine at the mo...just because of experience. . But i do expect Renouf will be a permanent player from very early next year, Taylor will have to pull his finger out to keep his spot.if Taylor plays well, then will be interesting to see what the Hawks will do...mmmm....we all seem to think its Taylor who will lose his spot if Renouf is in.

Think they will go with Taylor just from the experience point of view.
I share someone elses heart in mouth feel when Taylor gets the ball around the ground. Hmm tough call.

Renouf's been most impressive since his reinclusion in the side, but Taylor's older and more experienced, and I think that counts for a lot at this point in the season. Going in with Renouf is a gamble. Taylor would seem the sounder option.
