Where did I say you send me money for a sixpack?
Where did I say generic beer ($20? Pfft...).

I said, send me a six-pack of decent beer...

that clearly isn't viable....even suggesting that lacks a whole lot of sense.
I assumed you meant the value...you know, because that would be the sensible thing to do.
Just forget the whole thing

My bold bet if there is one is that my Houston Rockets will DEFINITELY get past the First Round this season. We probably won't win 55 this season, maybe a couple of games less, mainly because we surely won't go on another 22 game win streak, but nonetheless i think we are a 50+ win team and certainly a Top 4 seed.

If we were to face the Utah Jazz again, things would be very different. We have added so much depth to our roster. Brent Barry, Ron Artest, we have re signed Carl Landry, Steve Francis will be back and better than ever (I hope) and we still have that core Starting 5 of Alston at the point, McGrady at SG, Battier and Scola as the Small and Power Forwards and the big man Yao Ming as the C. Then Artest as the 6th man, Landry, Brent Barry, Brooks, Mutumbo, Francis and even D.J. Strawberry, we have an extremely formidable line up.

One man that will surely be bygons is former Illonis sharpshooter Luther Head, he just doesn't get it done when it matter, the Playoffs and with his contract will be traded somewhere, some team will pick him up.

Now your changing bets...Originally it was that Philly was going to finish ahead of the Cavs, now its that they must finish top 2.
I'm happy with the original bet thanks, since you were so confident about that.

Ha!
Gods dude, you wanna back out on it - just say so.
Wasn't me who put the big ol' "I'm willing to put my a.ss on the line now..." out there.

YOU
were the one who was so gung-ho to have a wager, you were the one who stated that you'd put your "a$$ on the line" that Cleveland would finish 2nd.
And now? Ummm... gee... no thanks?

Bets are for fun. I think getting you to send me a six-pack of good beer all the way from Australia would be fun. Just like if you were to win (tho' I really, really cannot see Cleveland finishing second), you'd gain great satisfaction on a six-pack of decent beer being sent all the way from Japan.
And if we were to make the bet, it would cost you around about $100 when you lost it.

Made this exact same bet with a mate on a different forum about rugby tipping. Who finished with the top score for the Super14 season won. We had a blast throughout the season with it, and it was close all the way.
A lot of thought was put into selecting those beers... and I enjoyed every last one of them (I beat him by a solitary point).

I think you're pretty safe... but when Yao Ming goes down with a season-ending foot injury, I'll take that bet! Wink

Yao won't be playing more than 30-35 minutes a game MAX. Mutumbo will get his 10-12 and we'll be right. We have added depth now and we can play many different ways. Imagine this -

PG - Steve Francis/Rafer Alston/Aaron Brooks
SG - Tracy McGrady
SF - Ron Artest
PF - Carl Landry
C - Luis Scola

Now that is a good way of beating the Suns. Speed and muscle. Will be a killer. The only team that can stop us is the Spurs. If they wake up come Playoff time, if Timmy, Tony and Manu can REALLY be bothered winning yet another Championship.

Point out to me where I said i would bet that Cleveland finish in the top 2 and I will gladly send you a 6-pack of beers first thing tomorrow????????

I offered to bet they would make top 4. Then you changed it to Philly beating Cleveland. Which i agreed to. Then YOU tried to change it.

Oh ok, never mind that he came back at the end of last season and although he wasn't 100% he showed that he was well on his way. Another few months out of the game can only help his rehab. I think that he'll be fine
As for Philly..can you even name their starting power forward from last season? I sure can't. That was their biggest need last year and by getting one of the best in the league, I think it's fairly safe to say that they have covered it well. Sure, they lost Korver in the process but I think the addition of Brand far outweighs that loss. Iguodala is better suited to playing second fiddle to someone else so Brand's addition will help. Not his stats but his play. They got a great distributor and two guys in the post who actually play defense. And if Thaddeus Young can improve and become a regular starter, then you got a team which should easily make the top 4 in the east. I know that you'll come up with reasons why Miami will be there instead. Philly improved far more in the offseason than any other contending team in the East so to expect a spike in their win total is quite reasonable

the main intention of the argument was that philly will not win over 50, where did i state miami....inference tsk tsk....

So... putting your ass on the line doesn't go so far as to 'betting'... ha! So much for convictions...

Whatever, fine. Philly finish in front of Cleveland. Bet on.
One condition, can you stop the petulant stuff? I'd like this to be fun...

AS you have said, Elton Brand was not an explosive player. He never was and even he will acknowledge that. He is a big guy but he knows how to use his size. Sure it might not be high flying or anything like that, but it is very hard to stop. His post game should be fine because he is not trying to out-jump or blow past his opponent. He is a beast and will over-power you and has the mid-range game down pat. He is more Charles Barkley than Amare Stoudemire.

You don't have a career average of 20/10 if you are solely relying on your athleticism. His injury was an Achilles tendon and unless youre Grant Hill or Shaun Livingston, I doubt this will see a regress in the play of Elton Brand.

As for Philly, Andre Miller is far from raw and you will find that he is a large part of the reason they finished the season so well. The guy knows the game. Samuel Dalembert is much more of a force in the middle that people give him credit for. Philly definately have more things going for them than the Hawks.

By the way, Philly were 40-42 last season and considering they were 12 games under .500 in Feburary, that is a hell of a run to finish the season.

they were still under .500, fact is, miller is old, igoudala is raw...potential...inconsistency much, brand is new to the club....and add to all this, philly are in the eastern conference, playing an abundant amount of games against eastern conference teams in a redundant division..winning 40 games is not much of a feat if you ask me....yes great run into the playoffs only to see igoudala suc*****b to pressure and well, good defense by prince...if philly are to win over 50 they need great chemistry, brand-igoudala-miller need to basically gel well, and thaddues young needs to develop into a great 6th man or wing man...someone to compliment igoudala well and lastly brand he needs to boost his game (on the defense end), especially in the eastern conf. where defense is a major part of their game/s

Shiggy... you're finding fault with people stating that Philadelphia will win 50 games (which is +8 on what they won last season), and they've added one of the best forwards in the league? But don't blink when people state that Cleveland will win, or finish second - which would be an improvement of 13-20+ games? On the basis that they've added a mediocre point man...
Sheesh!

Actually, no. Never used that term Shiggy.
And I never stated that you were racist, or anything of the sort. Hell, you - and the vast majority of posters here - are quite agreeable.
Just pointed out that it's a negative term. I'd be pretty *****ed if someone called my wife a "Jap".
