good one. You're so right - collingwood never have an impact in the finals, like last year when they lost to geelong by 5 points...oh wait...i just realised everything you said was a load of *****...collingwood is the only team who consistently trouble the cats. in the first week of the finals, if the ladder stays the way it is now (which is likely), collingwood will be playing sydney in melbourne..i would rate collingwood about an 80% chance to win that, considering their dominance over sydney in the last couple of years.
by the way, 99% of collingwoods players aren't overrated. pretty much everyone knows that collingwood perform far better than the sum of their parts. and if you actually watched any collingwood games, you would see the "poor recruiting history" collingwood has is probably one of the best in the league (pendelbury, anthony, dawes, marty clark, wellingham, paul medhurst, etc). you have no idea mate
Do you think maybe Collingwood are deliberately losing tonight to save themselves for the finals?... Maybe they want to finish 8th instead of 4th and save themselves the effort of having to play Geelong in round 1 of the finals...... Pathetic would be the only accurate word to describe Collingwood......

I think they will play Adelaide next week, good luck at AAMI and then if they win they cross over to the other side of the draw and play the loser of 1 V 4.

*sigh* Whenever thers an upset it just "must" have been tanking. Every second loss has a damn tanking thread associated with it. Some ppl just need to gtfo that teams have ***** weeks, same for those idiots who are out to ask other dumb questions such as "Are they pretenders???" as soon as there is a loss.

Nice reply simpleton....... It was a question, not a statement..... I'm not talking about tanking, I'm talking about spineless, heartless, gutless, sooky sooky la la football, and that's what we saw from Collingwood tonight...... If any Collingwood supporter can honestly and truly say after watching what they served up tonight, that they are a finals contender then they are absolutely dreaming, and quite clearly delusional..... What we saw tonight was a team devoid of any heart, severely lacking in leadership and quite frankly scared, when it comes to pressure football, and finals football is all about pressure......

No Collingwood supporter will tell you that, or they shouldn't. But to say they aren't finals contenders shows that you are a media bunny who goes along and looks at the one win and makes a whole year out of it. Yes, Collingwood were pathetic tonight, as they were last year in round22 against the Adelaide Crows, but look what happened in the finals. And your last paragraph is just laughable coming from a Carlton supporter... very laughable.

You never know with Collingwood. I wrote them off after the Heath Shaw and Alan Didak debacle and then they beat us that weekend. The loss to Freo means nothing, they always bounce back.

they will not lose 1st week
they lsot today becaus ethey were thinking of next week
the ground was too big for them to close a side down with pressure as they did against swans at td
they will forget this hiccup and focus on the finals

Point taken, but tanking wasn't the point I was getting at...... I was alluding to the fact, that in all reality, Collingwood is actually a very ordinary team that crumble when under genuine pressure.....

Can you explain the 'genuine' pressure that they faced... cause I reckon you'd feel more 'genuine' pressure taking on a side like Sydney last week that were playing for a similar spot on the ladder, then a side that's 2nd bottom and playing just for pride. Each to their own...

What you actually saw tonight was a young team that will be playing in the finals... You also saw a team that is missing a number of players... Im not saying we will win the premiership (unlike the delusional Carlton supporters who have the 2011 premiership in the bag), but we will still be playing next week, unlike half the other teams... Carlton fans shouldn't be commenting on other teams -especially teams in the 8 - when there own team has been s.hit for years and continue to be s.hit..

Doesn't any team? We saw Geelong crumble when Collingwood put them under pressure as well... good point you make...

Each to their own...
Collingwood were under no pressure last week.... They hit the ground running and never looked back, that is their problem, when things are going their way they are good, when the chips are down they lose the plot and are unable to convince themselves that they are good enough to win.... It's a mentality thing, they need to get it right in their head first, because mentally they are weak.....

We shall ignore the Carlton cheap shots. they are unrelated to this topic..... What we saw tonight was a team that will be playing finals based on their performances from earlier in the year, they have not played convincing football(last week against Sydney being the exception) for quite a time now.... What we saw tonight was a team, who if they, enter the finals race next week with the same weak menatality that they had tonight will get absolutely smashed by any of the other 7 teams (yes... even Sydney).....

No not any team does.... Carlton have been under pressure a few times this year, and turned 3 qtr time deficits into victories, because they have a "Never say die" attitude...... Collingwood don't have that same attitude....

Once again short-sightedness and only reading replies to the thread that suit your argument. Have a read at my previous posts. Collingwood were outdone tonight because they were not mentally there, correct. Do you not think that comes finals time, a different mentality kicks in, rather then a round22 dead rubber? From my perspective, you're just looking for a reaction out of Collingwood supporters, but tonight was so bad, we can't complain. Bring on the finals!!
