has it come this bad that people need to post rally calls on our forums and stuff We Are Everton, A Rally Call By Gareth Cooper : 07/08/2008 I wholly believe that Everton FC must be the worst marketed team in the entire of English football. The ridicule which we receive in both the written media and via tele-visual broadcasting is nothing short of disgraceful. In the most part we are a laughing stock and it is something which we aggressively need to stand up to and fight against. I have read before on forum pages, in mailbag postings and by word of mouth the outrage of fellow blues at how we are portrayed by various media. I have also heard and seen much of it myself as I avidly keep up to date with anything about Everton, something I think many of us do, REAL fans of a REAL, passionate football club. It fills me with anger when our name is repeatedly dragged through the dirt with every piece of news, positive or negative. Something we have seen more than ever over the last 3 months. Speculation, drama and down-right lies. Sarcastic MoTD comments from s***** like Mark Lawrenson, completely biased match commentary by cowards like Alan Green and patronising portrayals of our club by various faceless SSN presenters. These are all a mouthpiece to the general public which is slowly brainwashing the country into believing there are only 4 teams worth knowing about in England. Worse however is the brief coverage that we do get, which in comparison to our current competition (team s like Tottenham, Villa and Portsmouth), is terrible. We are made out to be a shambles on, and more topically, off the pitch. This has implications on our affairs not only in the minds of other teams, but when purchasing players and looking for investment we need to progress in this modern money sucking game. It is sad to see that a team with so much history have such little respect from supposed ‘football people’. Recently we have been the only team to break the Sky4 monopoly, yet every year we are overlooked, looked down on and discarded as unworthy adversaries. We deserve better than this. We are a club on the move, looking forward at beating Arsenal and lIVERPOOL (the next step), not floundering and settling for 5th and the futility of the Uefa Cup. This is something that needs to be addressed by the club. Our recently appointed head of marketing has a huge job on his hands. We need to lose the ‘chats’ with Bill Kenwright sat on his sofa waxing lyrical about transfer targets and ‘being confident about signings’. We need to stop the ‘only a fan’ comments and take a more professional stance. Bill’s public, relaxed persona is harmful to our reputation. We need to exude confidence, which borders on arrogance. We need to GET our transfer targets whatever the cost, not ‘TRY’. We were the 5th best team in the highest quality league in the world last year, we need to strive for better, demand respect and challenge those who with the help of this spin are becoming comfortable. This is not blind optimism, this is the attitude we need to win. Nil Satis Nisi Optimum? That is what we are all about. We need to send out the message. We won’t just roll over and die. We are Everton.

even as a pool fan i do agree everton never seem 2 be in the news that much...the reason they get as much coverage as they do is because of the position they have been acheiving in the prem recently.
however its hard 2 cover a team who doesnt really excite or make news. they very rarely buy big or even bid big, save for cahill they dont have any dynamic, flamboyant, exciting players, they dont have any MASSIVE household names apart from cahill over here, and they dont get "bad" publicity because they never seem to associate themselves with players who have off field issues (which is great, but as they say, any publicity is good publicity.
im not having a dig at the toffees, but u look at sides like man city who are going through transition with their managers and owners and are bidding big in the off season, u look at pompey who play exciting football (especially players like muntari even though hes gone this season), u look at teams like tottenham who have signed big with modric and have widely known players like berbatov.
with all these other teams getting headlines its no surprise a stable club like everton is missing from the back pages so to speak..

Considering money spent and the size of a squad, 7th or 8th would be a successful season.. not a struggle. As for that article, its a load of ***** written by some *****er who has no idea what he is talking about.

No disrespect to Everton, but with the money they spend/receive..7th would be good. Not sure about the most followed clubs etc... But still finishing well above clubs like newcastle is a great job.

I see TABsportsbet (www.tabonline.com.au) in their EPL Handicap market, are offering $21 for Everton at a 23 pnt start. Money for jam if you ask me I chucked a fiver on them, only cause Liverpool where only $13 for a 9 pnt start. Would also look at backing Fulham as well $15 for a massive 43 pnt start.

Its lucky that we have the best manager in the EPL david moyes and he is really great in the transfers and who to go for (yes he is even though he is targeting alan smith) we dont have a lot of money we have an english owner also which doesnt really help we need a billionaire to help us (or a donation from some full on rich dude like Donaldo Trump, or bill gates) the problem is that the Uefa cup has next to no prize money last year we got under 1 million pounds, and we have been mucking around for years looking for a new stadium (Kings dock, Kirkby etc) and that doesnt help, also we have ***** marketing sector JJB (wigans home ground naming rights sponsor) is our offical Marketer of our merchindise yet they stock more of Man Utd Chelsea Arsenal and Liverpool then everton stuff they have very very little everton stuff also we dont have a offical store in the city centre of liverpool
The fact is we arnt the best run club (far from it) and today aganeist PSV the supporters are apperantly gonna "Protest againest the summer of this year"
but we are gonna get a few new signings Joao Munitho (if he doesnt come everyone in the everton football club will be crushed as will I) Alan Smith (shakes head) Maybe Deigo Milito adn M'bia
