Raiders sack Carney
August 07, 2008 CANBERRA has sacked half-back Todd Carney.
Club chief executive Don Furner said the board had deliberated this morning following a series of off-field behavioural issues with the representative halfback.
"The board decided they had had enough," Furner told reporters.
In a short statement, Furner said a final decision had only been made today after Carney and his manager David Riolo had met with the board.
"The board met and discussed Todd with his manager and Todd was granted his request to put his case to the board," Furner said.
"Regrettably they (the board) chose to terminate his contract."

If they sack him he can sign with anyone, NRL havnt derigistered him and it would be to late for that. I would say Parra could sign him but we have Hagan as coach and he has no idea.

Man the NRL is falling to bits. Carney was deffintly an up and coming star! Union is going to get his talents now aswell. i dont think anything he's done deserves being sacked. He just loves his nights on the *****, good on him!

I wonder if any club is gunna pick him up. I'd say teams like the Knights, Souths and maybe a few other could use him.

Really? I thought it wasn't that simple. If he did not agree to the terms of Canberra then I thought the NRL supported Canberra in not registering his next contract....I dunno.... Didn't you guys sign Brad Drew recently?

He'll join the Warriors, move to Auckland away from the all hype, plus he'll get to win a premiereship with them. Seems to be the best option for him!

Yeah, I had read that if the Raiders do terminate his contract, he would have to sit out 2009 as the NRL would derigester him.
So if anyone did sign him, he couldn't play for them next year.
I also heard that they wanted the ESL to support the deregistration so that he could not go to England to play!
This is huge news
Apparently he *****ed on Tilse's mate's head, not his leg....

Is Dureau able to play hooker? If so, you could definately use Carney, Mullen in his 5/8th role and Carney at halfback with Dureau at hooker... And after saying all that i just remembered De Gois is coming to your club next year.....
