I think the saints have missed their opportunity and Carlton are definately moving in the right direction...
Any thoughts?

Neither in the near future, but you couldn't possibly back St Kilda over Carlton.

saints haven't missed the boat yet...there are still plenty of kids who will develop further
if st. kilda get malcolm blight to coach them again, they could win a flag by 2010

Best chance is if they were to merge and become the Cardboard Saints, or BlueKilda ?

Carlton by a long, long stretch. Saints won't win a flag for 10+ years.

I would imagine that Collingwood would be requiring the assistance of another club in order to win a premiership long before Carlton or Saint Kilda, because realistically Collingwood would not be anywhere near premiership contention for many years to come...... They had their chance in the early 2000's and have steadily gone backwards from there..... In answer to the question, I believe Geelong will win the next two premierships, and be beaten in the 2010 grand final by Carlton....

Now I understand you're a Collingwood supporter and all, and traditionally you aren't credited with alot when it comes to brain cells...... But I would think from a grand final to a prelim is going backwards not forwards, you see in 2002 your best football got you to within a whisker of a premiership, in 2007 your best football got you to within a game of playing off for a premiership, meaning your club has gone backwards.....

But that's not "steadily going backwards" as you suggest. In fact 2007 was an improvement on 2006, and 2006 was an improvement on 2005, so Collingwood have in fact been steadily going forwards for 3 years, unlike the Cartons who just collected 3 spoons in 5 years. In case you hadn't noticed, the same team does not win the premiership every year, meaning some teams go up and some go down. The objective is to finish as high as you can each year, not just keep bottoming out to get cheap draft picks and then buying the best players available.

Whatever works bro. carlton never intentionally lost games they were hurt from previous issues and the awesome system that is inb place helped the club as it does any club struggling with wins and now look at them. Carlton are a top 8 team and next year will be top 4.

Collingwood have "gone backwards" from 2002, your last 3 years you have improved, this year you will struggle to make the 8, make no mistake about that..... Hence you will have gone "backwards" once again..... Any particular clubs fortunes change from year to year, you are correct in stating that, and I am enjoying watching Carlton's fortunes change for the better, we beat your mob twice this year, we are a genuine chance of playing finals football, and we are starting to show very positive signs for the next couple of years, we are a club that is most definately working our way back to the top of AFL football...

When you're bottom of the heap there is only one way to go.
