What a terrible game.
The death of Australian soccer is knocking at the door.

I expected the same. They got past a group containing England, Czechs and Italy to finish runners up in Europe. Maybe their big guys had a hard time with the weather. That No. 5 who scored the goal is a giant.

last nights game was seriously like pulling out fresh stiches with knitting needles
...aust play was dour to say the least, aust was camped in their own half for the better part of the match, and our game has changed to the infamous long ball play of years gone past...certainly not anywhere near the ffa's visions of future dutch 'total voetbal'.
...on the bright side i was impressed with some of our defenses play, even if too much of it seemed last ditch...i like the looks of spiranovich, federici and mcclenehan, as well as d carney and milligan(whilst winning the ball...not the '40-20' hoofs)

I'm glad I didn't watch that match I can tell you that much. 1-1 against Serbia doesn't impress a person trying to get behind the Roos.

funny link about GA ...i didnt think this was funny at all...more infuriating "After Milligan had moved the ball forward safely, Arnie stopped play and called everyone back to where they were when Millsy started the move. And instead of playing it out, he told Millsy what he should have done was hoof it 50 yards across field up to the other wing, which he then demonstrated and restarted play thereafter." its enough to give u an ulser. i mean, where is rob baan or pim verbeek with the caine (after training and playing with other dutchies myself, i know you dont want to ***** them off)

How bad was the commontator? They could have atleast had 2 guys there so he could talk to someone. Aus will be carved up in the next 2 games, they just look so slow.

Ordinary game - I'll assume the weather was the culprit ????
I thought Spiranovic and Carney were the best for us - goalie Velaphi and young fella Rukavytsya also did good.
As for Archie - not happy to see he has taken his A-L offside tendencies - when will he learn??
1-1 though - good result.

1-1 though - good result. You're right about Carnew and Spiranovic being our best 2. Federici also had a good game. However, i wasnt too pleased with Rukavytsya. Did not impress me one bit, seemed to give away the ball 80% of the time via a poor pass or a lack of ball control. 3. Carney 2. Spiranovic 1. Zadkovic

yes but i think he's trying to point out that the vast majority of the australian public won't know this. If anything, they'll remember Serbia as the team who got thrashed 6-0 by Argentina at the World Cup.

This is under 23's(with 3 overage players)? Wasnt the European champinship under 21's? There is a fair bit of difference there.

yeah - but serbia have basically sent their under21 side. they didnt want any overage players (i think they have 2) they want to use it as expiereicne for their youth team

and one of those players is the goalkeeper, who doesnt have much of a say in team chemistry.
