How Does this look for a squad.

GK: Green >> Turnball (E)
DF: Laursen >> Richards >> Agger >> Scharner (E) >> N'Zogbia (E)
MD: Elano >> Downing >> Modric >> Jenas >> Sidwell
FD: Berbatov >> Keane >> Walcott (E)

Anyone keen to take this squad on, you can join my league! (403960), 1st 19 people obviously, so be quick
Looks fairly reasonable, I think. Bring on the new season.

solid but not spectacular.

take keane out, he'll play closer to midfield with pool then he did with spurs. replace with crouch or defoe.

I was thinking that myself, but maybe he might worth a look. Depends what system Rafa is going to use this season 4-4-2 or even 4-4-1-1.

Anyway we've got 3 weeks to look at players. If he doesn't work out, could swap him with someone like Agbonlahor, or even Owen.

Cheers for the tip!

Hey mate, your new around these parts. Welcome to the forum.

You seem to know what your talking about? Obviously a Pool fan from the username.

For this game you really need to target strikers that get goals, rather than assists. Strikers that are their teams 'go to' or 'target' man tend to do well in this game.

Good Luck

Cheers

Yep, I'm a new lad. Joined 2night. Been a pool supporter since i started watchn the game about 15 years ago.

You also get alot of points from defenders scoring goals on regular basis with their teams keeping clean sheets, all my defenders have that, and I think I've got a fairly solid midfield.

Thanks anyway mate!

Who do you think will be the top scoring defenders this year then?

Lescott?
Laursen?
Gallas?
Terry?

One of the harder things to predict every year is who will be this years "Lescott"

Any thoughts?

Cheers

probably going out on a limb here, but i reckon that Lescott will play the role of Lescott this year. Plus he still loves Wolves. And he has a massive forehead.

John Terry will certianly be better than last year(out with injury alot) I would imagine?

But I think Lescott may hold on to Goals total title.

Terry over season with Chelsea clean sheets.

Terry or Gallas have to look at clean sheet chances!!!
the other 2 might score more but it all adds up.

Yeah! good call about Lescott. But on form, you have to have him in your team, for the start of the season anyway.

Top scoring defenders. That's a toughy, going on those 4 players you put down, I would'nt choose any of them.

It might be byast, but I think if Agger can stay fit for 95% of the season, he maybe the one who could top the list this season. He has the talent!

Lescott is hard to leave out due to soft start of Everton, but if he doesn't fire he will lose a lot in value as he is so expensive, I am sure he will go down at some stage but maybe too late.....tough decision?

Everton have looked a bit shakey in preseason. Can anyone confidently say they will do better this year than last??

Traditionally they have started slowly wrt to clean sheets too, after about 8 or so games they start to kick into gear. However, their fixture list is quite good to start with this year.

In regards to this years "Lescott" I probably picked the wrong player to " ". Lescott is a unique player, and has performed well for the last 3 years. What I really mean is this years "breakout" defender. Kind of like Laursen last year or perhaps even Wheater. Not sure if they are the best examples, but both had good years.

Agger is an interesting one.

I will go out on a limb and say he won't be the top scoring defender this year. He is an excellent player, and Pool will get many clean sheets, but I fear that Rafatation will decrease his chances of getting the most points.

What are your thoughts on Skrtel, and why I am here I think Dossena is a nailed on starter at LB, do you agree?

i'd go with about 7 on that (except for our premier league season, where he sacraficed himself to get us up there, but never played a game Crying or Very sad )

Ha aussietomo, you really do have a man crush on him don't you.

You are right, Lescott has performed well for a considerable period, great player.

I think Skrtel is very solid, and he wasn't far from scoring in a couple of games. Very strong in the air, won't be suprised if he manages to score a few goals as well this season.

Haven't seen to much of Dossena? Came from Udinese (ITALY SERIA A, I think) Bit of a guessing game with him I think.

Do you know of a website with a copy of the EPL Draw (With a printer freindly version)

I think Dossena is a shoe in too.....Lots of Serie A defence experince...enough to sway me if I manager....
Cahill will bring everton together when he comes back.
I don't know if they will be any better, but other sides will certianly improve, like
Villa-Owner told O'neill to buy whoever he wants even if it's a 30mill player, what ever he wants he gets.....expect some big signings....Shorey,Finnan,De la Red etc..
Spurs look to have bought well and should improve.
I don't think Man. City will start like last year, very confusing side to me, might take sometime for them to settle on a fulltime starting side.

I feel Man Utd have weekened, WITH AN UNHAPPY RONALDO, no club does well with a star that doesn't want to be there...ask SBWSmile

i'll agree on the agger comment, but he will be the top scoring liverpool defender. however, this isnt saying much, due to rotation.

skrtel will earn the least points of the 3, due to his position on the bench and him not being a real goal contributor. having said that, hes only been around 6 months, and has all the makings of a vidic.

dossena pretty much has it in the bag imo. has had a brilliant pre-season, and looks a mile ahead of fabio. im predicting 70-80% starting rate, bar injuries.
