As patriotic as I am, I think the boomers could be primed for 3rd, 4th or 5th...
USA to wipe any country it faces...

i picked the usa to win, but they wont be wiping everyone. theyre far off being the best halfcourt team in the comp. theyve been blowing teams away in these exhibitions because of stretches of shut-down defense leading to steals and highlight reel dunks. if i was one of the other contenders, id definitely consider a double point guard line-up to try and take care of the ball. they still havent mastered pick and roll defense either. if they can keep the games high tempo, they should roll through. but the other teams are too smart to play directly in to america's hands, theyll try and keep it slow. whether the us will be able to force the tempo against well drilled teams remains to be seen.
gold: US silver: argentina bronze: spain 4th: boomers

gold: US silver: argentina bronze: spain 4th: boomers Argenina won't be second, after they nearly lost to the Boomers and after what Spain did to them in to exhibitions not too long ago I'm picking Spain to be the major problem for the US...

I wonder who actually voted Boomers to win the gold medal. As much as I want them to win, I reckon Bronze medal is the best we can get

Apart from J. Kidd being "too old" (refer http://sports.espn.go.com/oly/olybb/columns/story?columnist=sheridan_chris&page=USARussiaRecap-080802) I think the USA will win gold. They have too much to play for and will settle for nothing less. They will however be tested by some of the better half court teams, such as Spain. nice!

Like most people, I tend to think Team USA will be too strong this time. I expect the US will win in a similar fashion to how the gold medal was won in Sydney 2000. There will probably be a scare or two for the Americans along the way, most likely from Spain. Perhaps Argentina or Greece if either has an out-of-the-ordinary performance. The same problems from previous tournaments (defence, rebounding, outside shooting) will still be there for the US, although to a lesser extent, but their athleticism, scoring power and improved experience should be enough.
As for the Boomers....if they play at their absolute peak a bronze is possible, otherwise somewhere between fifth and eighth.

i can't believe how many of you actually think Australia will win bronze.
They simply will have too much difficulty scoring, Barlow and Newley will not shoot the ball consistently well enough.
they will s***** but i really wouldn't be surprised if they dont make it out of the group.and if they do they will be the 4th seed and play usa in the crossover and will obviously lose that.
game against croatia is huge, i hope i am wrong but i'm not inspired by this Australian team, too many jump shooters who aren't consistent enough.
