When did u actually put the money on sastre?? Surely it wasn't before the tour, he would've been an absolute smokey
Did exactly what Hillsnick did, except only a tenner.

Next year it will be Astana (if they are aloud in) vs CSC mainly with Cadel, Menchov, Vandevelde and Kohl all just with slight chances. McEwen (i hope not) but if he doesnt win tomorrow i dont think he will race the tour next year unless he has a good off-season. Next year Cav will dominate. Also Andy Schleck will be very good next year if he keeps improving. Cadel. I think we will be waiting for out next big GC chance i dont think Cadel can make it unless he wakes up and leaves Lotto. However he wont do that cause he is too loyal. Yeah, he definitely should if he wants to really give it a shot. No point being loyal if your team stinks and give you no hope.

Very disappointing but what can you do. It is a sport where all the effort in teh world won't help you if things don't go exactly right, and they didn't for cadel.
I'm very proud of him - let's not forget he has equalled the best result by an Australian in 103 years of the event.
realistically though I think he will be at long odds next year. Michael Rogers if fit is really our best chance of a win in the near future given that he has a bit more explosive power than Evans.

Congratulations. In an event that has been won by a whopping 8 people in the last 20 years, you successfully managed to predict that one competitor WOULDN"T win - what are you doing on the Sportal Forums when you could be out making millions as a TV psychic?

I can't believe the amount of people saying Cadel rode a bad Time Trial.
He was never going to finish much higher than 5th-10th in the stage, given the guys he was riding against and what he had been put through over the last few weeks. He performed exactly as he should have.
Second year in a row he was beaten by a guy riding out of his skin, and far above any previous form or perfromance. Evans did all he could.
Total of 81 seconds in 2 years, nearly 7400km. And he did it without any help. This is one of the all-time-great performances from an Aussie in any sport.

the way team csc built a team and rode to their tactics perfectly was indeed rewarded with best team, best young rider and of course, best rider overall. to think that cadel evans came only 1'05 behind is a legendry performance with no team around him.
hats off to CSC and hats off to Cadel.

Congrats to Sastre and team CSC, but you have to wonder how things would've fared if Cadel Evans had a good team around him. If I were in his shoes right now, I would seriously consider the possibility of switching to a team with more resources. There are teams on the circuit with greater financial backing who would probably snap him up in a heartbeat and give him all the tools needed to win next year's tour.
