I've noticed Cliff Kresge having some good individual rounds recently. I'm not a golf expert, but to my eye he looks to have a very fluent and easy swing - which means he should become more consistent when under pressure.
Could be a good longshot in the St Jude Championship.
$101 each way (Top 5 place $26) on Sportingbet. $101 round 1 leader on TAB. $67 tournament low round on Sportingbet.
Also, both TAB and Sportsbook run a handicap with selected players (usually 30, but only 20 this time). The odds are around $20 per player in this event. Kresge has 7 start - the backmarkers on scratch are Singh, Toms and Garcia, and the biggest start is 10.
It would be good to hear anyone else's observations on players who look to be at their peak - as I love a longshot bet on the golf.

i have never bet on gold because its impossible to pick a clear winner except for woods but if you can study the odds there is a chance of making some good money if you put in the time

i have never bet on golf but my main tip is put money on woods , but when betting on golf always look at the players history on that course-always a fair indication of how there going to play in the upcoming tornament

I really enjoy a bet on the golf. My advice, don't try and pick the outright winner before R1. Bet Top Aussie and Top5 or Top10. If they are in the running after R1 consider further bets. If they have bombed out ... STAY OUT , you are not on a winning streak this week.

Back in late 80s I had $10 on Faldo to win British Open at 10-1. He and Norman played together in rd 3, with Faldo shooting 67 & Norman 76. It was horrible wishing NF a win so I could pocket some money but meaning GN would not be the winner. Would rather have paid $100 to see Norman win so vowed never to bet against someone I was cheering for again.

I like to have a few low cost all ups on the european/american golf most weeks. I only bet top5 or top 10.Best i got was a top 5 a couple of years ago with Allenby($10) in the US into Johann Edfors($80) in Europe. A nice $800 return for my $1. would rather have backed Edfors for the win. He won the tourney at some ungodly figure. about 400-1 I think.

Sergio Garcia is paying $10 win in the British Open(NZ TAB)....good money considering his recent form and no Tiger to contend with. My advice (lesson learned) is not to back the round 1 or 2 leader if they are an unknown...Jean Van de Velde will not be forgotten. I was laughing all the way to the bank until that 72nd hole.

I'm having a sentimental bet on the Shark at 4.60. Wakefield value at 25.00.
