TEN-TIME world champion Oscar De la Hoya kept his plans for a rematch with pound-for-pound king Floyd Mayweather jnr on track with a 12-round unanimous decision over Steve Forbes. De la Hoya, 35, has said he wants to close out his glittering career in 2008 with two fights - in September against Mayweather and in December, perhaps against Miguel Cotto. Forbes, a former world champion himself, could have derailed those plans, but De la Hoya gave him little chance, earning the decision by 119-109 according to two judges, while the third saw it 120-108. De la Hoya, who has won 10 world titles in six weight divisions, improved to 39-5. Both displayed a high level of skill in a non-title bout fought at 150 pounds, but De la Hoya was too fast and too powerful for the 31-year-old Forbes, who fell to 33-6.

Duncan each to their own...Im not a fan of either boxer so there is no bias...Hopkins of 5 years ago would beat any version of Calzaghe.
Mayweather vs De la Hoya II will be good for the first 3 rounds then Mayweather will pick him apart but it will be good to watch.

Boxing is dying. MMA is all the rage these days. Look at the registered fighters in Australia today and the majority are now kickboxers or MMA.

Judah vs Mosley bout cancelled, that would have been a good fight?
FORMER world champion Zab Judah injured his arm in a fall and his May 31 bout against Shane Mosley has been cancelled, Golden Boy Promotions has announced. The pay-per-view fight between the ex-champs had been set for Mandalay Bay in Las Vegas, with both hoping a victory could set up another world title chance against unbeaten welterweight champions Floyd Mayweather and Miguel Cotto.
Judah suffered multiple severe lacerations on his right forearm and received 50 stitches in the accident, and was expected to be unable to train for four weeks.
"It is very unfortunate that Zab suffered this injury and that this great event had to be cancelled," said Richard Schaefer, chief executive of Golden Boy Promotions.
"We are already in discussions with all parties involved to attempt to reschedule the fight for the near future."

I'd like to like him being an aussie and all, and also very talented. But I can't. He will never test himself against the best, and when he does he gets whipped, or prices himself out of the fight.

Mundine killed him once again ? I think Mundine is better than people give him credit for i wonder if its true that no big names will risk fighting him as that is what he says , it would be true but to what extent ? He will have to take on a big name (American) soon !

He will have to take on a big name (American) soon ! 2 reasons why top fighters wont fight him...He is not a big drawcard in the US but can fight up to their level so big names think its too much of a risk with no reward as for mayweather i really wanted him to fight cotto before he retired but what can you do....just hope he doesnt do a Trinidad and come back 5 yrs later.

Mundine has really started to annoy me. He is an incredible boxer mainly with his speed, but he hasn't fought anyone near his level since kessler. if you look at his record he has never won overseas and that could be contributing to his hesitancy of fighting in america/europe (where the big fights are). It's time to 'man' up mundine, if not for yourself but for boxing as a whole in australia.

Does anyone think there is any truth to th rumor that Mayweather was scared of Cotto personally I think it would have been a great fight Mayweather would of won of course I saw the Calzaghe v Hopkins fight Calzaghe dominated though and is the real deal he has gotta fight Tarver Mundine reckons he is gonna drop to middleweight and fight Pavlik cant see it happening but he has to fight someone decent. Welter weight and Super welter weight divisions are just packed with good well known fighter thats where all the good fights are but I would like to see Tarver V's Calzaghe

Danny Green is holding a press conference today (think today) to announce his return for a big money fight against Mundine! He will get beaten twice as bad this time imo he has been relaxing on beaches while Mundine has been training his ass off for six months - what do u guys think? Also the Fenech v Nelson fight , the doctors fear that they are to old and fear Nelson to have heart failure but its still going ahead ...wtf
