HAWKS 2009 wrote: So true! Good to see you back Nat.... Where have you been? Cheers mate, just resting during the break. Preseason training has started and the need to talk footy again is impossible to ignore. Not so hard early on when your team doesn't figure in the finals though, but yeah, another year, another tilt.

Tigers dream of one day losing to the Hawks in a GF.
I'd love to find the thread but I think it's gone.

Is "boganity" a word?
Is there a web page where I can access the measurable "boganity index" scale? I'd like to see how I measure up.
The boganity index is a complex mathematical scale which depends on a few variables. You will need to add up your totals from each part to attain your index. AFL SUPPORTER INDEX: Part A i)Major City Dwelling Index: Take the number of Kilometres you live from the city CBD and multiply by the appropriate factor depending on your locality: NORTHMelb,Hob,Bris,Perth,Canberra: North of City factor=2 Syd =1 Adel =3 EASTAdel,Melb,Hob,Bris,Canberra,Syd: =1 Adel,Perth=3 SOUTHSyd,Melb,Hob,Bris,Perth,Canberra: =1 Adel=3 WEST Perth=1, Adel,Mel,Syd,Hob,Bris,Can=3 ii) Regional City (Geelong, Bendigo etc.) Same as above just add 5 to final tally. iii) Rural (Farm etc) Multiply distance (k's) to nearest pub with tap beer by factor 2. Part B Add the following amount depending on which team you support Adelaide 200 Brisbane 50 Carlton 80 Collingwood 100 Essendon 80 Fremantle 80 Cats 50 Hawks 50 Kangaroos 50 Melbourne -100 Power 200 Tigers 100 St Kilda 50 Swans 20 West Coast 80 Bulldogs 80 For example I live in Donvale 20 k's east of Melbourne and support Collingwood. My index=20 x 1 + 100=120

(please let it be 160.... lol) Nat I think there is a little bit of bogan in all of us (Melbourne supporters excepted). Some just have a little bit more than others. Anything over 150 is getting pretty hard core. 200+ is full blown bogan.

Club announces record profit 12:52 PM Wed 12 November, 2008
Hawthorn Football Club has announced a net operating profit for the year ended 31 October 2008 of $4,054,368 (Company 2007: $3,603,477). This result, a Club record, is up 12.5% from last year. The strong result is largely due to significant growth in many key revenue areas of the business coupled with sound economic management and the positive impact of winning the 2008 AFL Premiership. In announcing the result, Hawthorn President, The Hon. Jeff Kennett AC, was pleased to recognise the role that the Club’s increased investment in its core business, football, has played in continuing to re-establish the Hawks as a leading AFL club. “The Club was thrilled to have secured its 10th Premiership in season 2008 under the guidance of Coach Alastair Clarkson and Captain Sam Mitchell,” said Mr Kennett. “The significant increased investment in the Football Department over the past two seasons of $3.4m (2008 - $2.1 million and 2007 - $1.3 million) has assisted in delivering the ultimate dividend to members – premiership success,” continued the Hawthorn President. “The Club will continue to invest in its core business, while ensuring we pursue best-practice in all areas of our business, to deliver the financial and human resources to ensure sustained success and the Club’s stability in what are tough economic times.” “We must not and will not become complacent. We will continually look to ways to improve, on and off the field,” said the Mr Kennett. A direct result of this increased investment in 2008 saw a particular focus placed on increasing resources in coaching, recruiting, player welfare and development and list management to support the development of Hawthorn’s young playing list. The Club announced its ambitious five-year business plan at the 2007 Annual General Meeting – five2fifty – detailing its intent to attract over 50,000 members and to win at least two premierships within the next five years. The business plan also outlined the Club’s ambitions to record annual profits in excess of $2m and to secure a net asset base of more than $20m. The Club continued to make significant headway in realising these objectives, with all commercial areas of the business reaching record levels in the 2008 season and the debt free acquisition of the freehold of the Waverley Park public gymnasium with the proceeds from the settlement of the Linda Crescent Social Club. Mr Kennett was pleased to report that the Club had improved in all areas of its business. “This year we made good headway on our 50,000 Membership target with 41,686 supporters signing up as members, an increase of 34% from 2007,” said Mr Kennett. Importantly, 25% of the Membership base is from outside of Victoria with 10% located in Tasmania. “Merchandise had a record year which saw sales increase by 131% on 2007. This solid result was underpinned by the introduction of an exciting new logo and the importance of the team’s winning season culminating with Premiership success.” “Aggregate attendance at Hawthorn games broke through the one million mark for the first time while an additional four games on free to air television from the previous season helped deliver a record 16 million-plus viewers on TV.” In August of this year the Club launched its Foundation. The aim of the Hawthorn Football Club Foundation is to secure donations that will ensure the Club remains financially viable for the long term and has the capital resources to achieve both its on and off field objectives. The Club continued the re-development of the Waverley Park facility with the opening of the Hawks Museum. In addition, the Club has completed the construction of a state-of-the-art Multimedia Centre and an expanded Membership Services area. The Club will continue to develop the Waverley Park headquarters with the vision to provide the most modern facilities and technology available, maximising its players and coaches potential to secure future premierships and to facilitate the highest level of professionalism from its Administration team. http://hawthornfc.com.au/tabid/4742/Default.aspx?newsid=69705
