I've copped a hiding from all the boys the last few days (except Podgy, he refused to back the Hawks in the GF), but you missed the boat unfortunately. Cricket season now, and 09 beckons. Cricket season is always the last bastion of the defeated Grand Finalist. Pulled that card myself back in '84. I've been away, well away, drunk then hungover then drunk again then hungover again, and have just pulled up today...very sore. Gloating on Sportal was the least important thing in my schedule since Saturday, so got around to it when I got around to it. Happy to miss that boat. We've got the cup, and I've got the memorabilia, so am happy with that. Suffice to say this has been a moment of pure gold. A cracking Grand Final, a dream result.

Of course, I organised the tipping comp, and in actual fact we played for nothing but glory...and I got all the glory!!!! Tons of it.
Seeing the boys with the premiership cup...brown and gold everywhere...the club song in my ears...cold beer in my tatty Hawks stubbie holder, in my hand...in a room draped in brown & gold...it was the moment of my lifetime.
You're right. All those premierships in the 70's, 80's & '91 just weren't as emotional as this. It's been a long, long, hard time coming...and to finally get there...it was gold, absolute gold.
THATS WHAT I'M TALKIN ABOUT!!!!!!!

Fair enough, good on you and your Hawks. At least at cricket I can control the outcome, if I drop a catch or take a blinder, it's me thats done it. But watching the Cats hand the cup to a gleeful looking Hawthorn was out of my control. Very frustrating.

I organised the tipping comp, and made up the prizes to get everyone's attention. The prize for winning was diddly squat...oh, glory I suppose, but then winning the GF was all the glory I was looking for. Was great to win the tipping comp though. Change of tipping fortune for myself...hahaha.

We would of done it this year but fears for our safety changed our minds.

Otherwise when is a good time to get carried away? 3/4 time in last years grand final is on record as the safest time ever to get carried away, IMO the hawks will end the year 17-5 with 3-4 more 100 point floggings. and theyll beat the cats Wow post 15 in the thread, mid march.....
