Been very subdued this yr compared to last yr. Lots of cheap pebble throwing last yr which made the thread much more fun i reckon. Still have that one weak trade left...weak coz there's jack all $ to back it up.

More dumb luck with the freezeout. Just make sure you stick your head in early for next yrs ...prob have 2 league's in both dt and sc and u ought to be amongst the first involved after what happened back in feb/march.

Thanks, ranked 236 for the week. Seems you've had a better season, could be due to the tougher league - I've just got into the top 15k. I don't know how you stayed in and I didn't. Looking forward to a competitive league instead of some public league with other teams that started in Round 2.

Quick Monday morning preview of the upcoming GF between Shifty (5th) and Magoo (6th), taking into account duplicate players and remaining head-to-head battles:
Backs Bock, Goddard, Birchall, Mackie, Ibbotson Shifty: Milburn, Bradshaw, (Taylor), (Proud). Magoo: Burgoyne, Kennelly, (Hansen), (Head).
Mids Bartel, Corey, Cross, (Browne) Shifty: Swan, Hayes, Dalziell, (Bird) Magoo: Cornes, Stevens, Palmer, (Cotchin)
Ruck Simmonds Shifty: Sandilands, (Wood), (West) Magoo: Cox, (Hampson), (Meesen)
Forwards: Franklin, Riewoldt, Richardson, *Pavlich*, Brown, (Valenti) Shifty: Deledio, Brown, (Macaffer) Magoo: Johnson, Rioli, (Tippett)
At this stage (Monday morning), there are sixteen shared players, so there are only a handful of opportunities to break free of the other team. Captain choice will be pivotal. Magoo has been talking up a treat in recent posts, but I can guarantee him my side will have two changes this week, and I am not restricted by $$$ for any player.
My dilemma is, do I trade to nullify an advantage the opposition has (Cox vs Sandilands), or do I trade to drive home an advantage (eg Proud to say, Fisher)???
Good luck.

ME talking it up ? pffftt. A few weeks ago u virtually declared yaself unstoppable. This game is all about the fibro's v silvertails....with a distinct blue collar v establishment feel to it I have the people on my side...they want this for ALL the members and anyone that's ever been banned over the yrs. It has been an absolute tsunami of points over the last 2 months...the form has been undeniable and i just cannot see u stopping this dt juggernaut on a roll. Do your homework wisely o shifty one lol..u will certainly need it. p.s...any truth to the rumour that mutes is putting up $10K and a t-shirt for the winner ?

Yeah cheers was damn tight wasnt it...could have gone either way. WTF was with Milburn and Mackie ?..i thought that matchup would decide it but both hardly touched it on the weekend. Miffed that Valenti was dropped when Pavlich didnt play.... but only myself to blame if i'd lost for taking the risk and not replacing him to have a benchie. That kid Urquhart seemed way off his game...he has been pretty good. The number of 1st and 2nd yr players in teams racking up 2100 per round is a sign for next yr i reckon. WIll be a lot less people spending the big money at the start. Its still a talent spotting and injury management excercise mixed in with some common sense but seems no reason not to hold the kids longer and save the upgrades. Injuries have been ridiculous and its a bit of an eye opener how well the scoring has been even playing 3 kids. Many upgrades simply became pointless and a waste. Anyway...i'll see if i can knock Shifty off with the same crew. He was my last loss and scored >2200 but got done. That aint right and revenge will be sweet lol

The game is getting faster, so will be the domain of the younger in years to come.
The ability of your Palmers/Gibbs/Cotchins etc. to not only mix it with but excel (in a DT sense) means the days of paying top brass for your locks (Chad, BJ, JB, Pav etc.) early days may be numbered.

LRT and Kepler have got to be the two gumbiest players in the comp... and they should both be in your teams!

You both may need to trade Pav if he is out.
Magoo - can you get anyone decent for Rioli / Valenti this week? That is your weakest link i think.

In all honesty, looking to upgrade one of (Hayes/Cross) to anyone - they are good for 80/90 week in, week out - but very rarely do I get a 120/130 out of them....possibly even Dalziell as you shouldn't really trust a rookie, no matter how good they're going. Then one of (Ibbo/Bradshaw) again to anyone, they score anywhere between 50/80, would love a back that could smash a 100+ score.
Doesn't matter who I trade, I can afford the most expensive players in each position. Pav out and the availability of Valenti is another spanner in the works.
Time will tell.

Magoo - can you get anyone decent for Rioli / Valenti this week? That is your weakest link i think. yeaahhh..same situation or worse than last week when i was short of anyone decent by only about 4K. Valenti is worth more than Rioli anyway so it is Valenti to someone. Murphy and Cloke went up in $ so they arnt an issue at all now. All moot at this stage due to Pavlich turning to water at the worst time. Chance he'll play but what it means with that 1 weak trade left is that if Pav is not selected Thursay (may still pull out anyway by gametime) then the trade must be Pavlich to someone to achieve a better result. Not a chance i;m going in 1 short if i can help it. Shifty is not in the same boat up fwd due to the 1 extra gun..but if Pav is rested again then no matter what he says in here he'll likely use one of his trades on Pav due to his current value and potential downside if not replaced with a gun. So...boils down to only 2 scenario's ...not set in stone but likely to achieve best pts return on that trade. 1. Finding someone for Valenti + $ 21,300...if Pav plays. or 2. Pick a replacement for Pav if he doesnt play. At least there's the advantage there of not having used up that trade on just anyone last week. If i couldnt get Murphy/Cloke didnt seem any point getting anyone due to Rioli going along ok lately....but now Pav is out that trade becomes vital.

Time will tell. LMAO..Shifty's letting the bullshyt fly early. "In all honesty" ?? lol... dont make me smack u over the head with that big virtual online wang U seriously think we believe u would be dumb enough to upgrade a dt legend like Hayes (or even Cross) at this pt ?...when Pav may be out and considering your weak rucks ? lol. Here's your 2 likely trades for this week Shifty..depends if Pav plays obviously. 1. I reckon u will play negative footy and upgrade Sandilands to Cox. lol...softcoq option but nonetheless sensible !!!! 2. If Pav is out your second trade is him to a replacement fwd gun. cmon...lol..convince me otherwise...that weakass Pav has thrown a bit of a spanner in the works not just for me

Seriously, look at Hayes/Cross' (esp. Cross) recent DT records. Whilst they are no doubt DT guns, (Cross I think has had 6 x 80's in a row followed by last week's 90ish) it is a Grand Final - I want bang for my buck. I don't want the 95% chance of getting 80/90, I want the 50-50% of copping a 50/60 score or 120/130.
The rucks are the least of my worries, Cox won't be banging out a 150/160 this week.
Pav presents interesting times.
