It is so hard to decide between Joel Bowden and Peter Burgoyne

but had to go bowden

Easy choice.

Snr burger isnt even in my mix this yr.

Mind you i'm also bypassing Bowden for the first time.

had a bit of a squizz at it this morning...a lot tougher than previous yrs and there are two ways to attack it.

1. the old fashioned gun accrual method starting with as many as u can afford sprinkled with junk.
2. the "85 average"...forget the big prices and concentrate on starting an even list of blokes that SHOULD average 85 across the board...i.e an even spread of 300-380K guys with maybe 1 or 2 kiddies starting.

Here's a quick exampkle of the "alternative" or "wild man" list for the start.

One of the benefits is single trade upgrades...assuming 1/3rd will be switchable with big guns without the need to downgrade cashcows...no draining of the 20 trades with cash trades.

Shaw, Burchall, Ladson, Gram, King, Symes, Ellis
Hayes, Stanton, Cross, Johnstone, Stevens, Houli
McIntosh, Simmonds
Cloke, Franklin, Fevola, Deledio, Hall, Tredrea, Jetta

need to decide which way to swing...guns or no guns this yr.

yeah sure ..but i could also have Pavlich if i could afford it in that team.

you're right tho..okeefe is a classically consistent 85 average..just the type to look for. Odds are that plenty will exceed that 85 over the yr with smart choices.

I'm not saying thats the way i'll play it yet..but its looking like common sense considering whats available.

yeah. i also discovered nathan foley averaged 24.4 possessions a game last year from 22 games. he is 50k less than stanton hu averaged 23.5 from 20 games. foley also had 90 tackles from his 22 games to stanton's 28.

Had Foley from the start last yr...thought he was looking likely and i got it right ...EXCEPT for the fact he;s a handball junkie.

When looking at mids you still need to be aware that you must think ALL chosen have at least the potential for a 100 average 9other than the 1st/2nd yr guys. Foley doesnt fit that for me.

Forgetting about Stevens and other obvious starters (not totally void of risk of course) Schammer is one of the more interesting guys...Whenever he has had gametime he's a ball magnet. Looks fit and his injuries werent as career threatening as say Thompson/Bradshaw. Got a feeling he'll be 350K within 8 rounds and easily switchable for a slightly out of form gun.

Check Grimes isnt out for the season withn a knee.

I;ve actually picked Dal Santo for the Brownlow this yr but he's quality not quantity. The big gun of SC coz of perfect disposal but never been a dt gun. I;m thinking seriousluy about taking the risk Luke Ball is finally on the road back...even injured he has averaged 90..when fit he's been one of the most expensive such as in 2004/2005. Armitage looks the goods but will have a tough time breaking into that side but a reasonable alternative to Houli off a bench.

backs and rucks are the problem..got a feeling far too many will try to play kids on the field down back to start.

Remember also that the team lists for the weekend will probably not be out before lockout on thursday.

King HAs gone up yeah...just really busy looking guy to me and i reckon might pop another 10-15 in average this yr...making him still value where there isnt m,uch down back. If i was Wallace i;d think VERY seriously about playing him in the middle this yr.

Gram had Maguire/Goddard/Hudghton missing and Fisher was on and off the bench in that game....gram was a class above most in that part of the ground but Gilbert was being taught KP duties and Gram had no competiton for ball...nor any high class opponents...inflated his score. He wont have a chance of playing midield either with all fit and armitage backing up. he's a reasonable pick but little else to choose from.
