yes fact from the AFL PR machine

You saw the stats posted in a South African newspaper for yourself. If you don't want to accept that then go for your life. I could as easily dispute facts about anything or any sport I wanted to using that logic. In the end I guess you entitled to your opinion but you're not convincing anyone here that the AFL is doing anything other than going gang busters in South Africa. It remains a mystery why you feel threatened by that.

"In recent years "footy" - as the game is known in Australia - has grown markedly in South Africa and today the game attracts in excess of 7 500 players and participants in organised school leagues and competitions."

This says nothing about 30,000
And nothing about registered players

It all in how you read it

No it isn't. It actually depends on READING IT. Back on page 2 of this thread, I stated that I heard 'that Sports Tonight on Channel 10 had a report from Sth Africa saying their version of Auskick will have 30,000 kids involved by 2009.'

No one here has claimed 'leagues' with 30,000 players. READ the thread. On top of that, for God's sake, I'm not beyond being convinced that I misheard what they were talking about. 30,000 was not misheard though. I just cannot remember whether 'their version of Auskick' were the actual words used, and I don't have a reference.

Here something to consider, just a scenario:

FootyWild organise several clinics to demonstrate the game in an area (lets say 5 for this example). Now the go to a school with 100 pupils, after the 5 clinics there has been 500 students participated in the program even though the school has only 100 pupils.
See how easy it is to manipulate statistics

That's funny. Sad, but funny. You've been having kittens over this and I just pointed out that you have no idea what you are talking about and no intention of talking about it in a constructive way, or arguing about the actual issue or articles in this thread. You have chosen to ignore anything that doesn't suit your own biased view of the world. You have added nothing to this debate, mate. Nothing.

*shrugs*

I care more about what is under my toenail than I do about your posts.

“I just pointed out that you have no idea what you are talking about”
Oh did you really?
I gave you a realistic scenario of how statistics are gathered and you had no rebuttal to it.

“no intention of talking about it in a constructive way”

But I am. I am being constructive by telling you not to waste your time on the subject

“arguing about the actual issue or articles in this thread. You have chosen to ignore anything that doesn't suit your own biased view of the world.”

Yes I choose to ignore press releases because they are carefully worded and biased no matter where they come from

“You have added nothing to this debate, mate. Nothing.”

That’s only because your being stubborn to my judgment on the issue because you would like to think I’m wrong.

“I care more about what is under my toenail than I do about your posts.”

That fine you can attack me all that you like, as to me it’s a sign that you can’t muster up anything else to say on the topic.

The fact of the matter is that neither of you is ever going to agree. You have diametrically opposed opinions and neither side of the argument has anything to convince the other. The way I see it, some people will just believe what they want to believe or maybe just want to p1ss somebody off so it makes it a fairly silly discussion IMO.
