What do you classify as a decent beep test score? Whats the best score from your PE class? I got 13.5 but some other kid got 14.1 in mine

i think its stupid when its done at schools, the markers are closer the kids in the middle never go the entire length and they take off before the beep, used to peeve me right off when i used to go to school.

Beep test has good correlation with your actual VO2 max scores but the problem for swimmers is that all their training is in a non weight bearing environment. As such when swimmers go to run, muscles that are normally propelling you horizontally through weight supporting water are now having to support your body weight and perform completely diferent movements. Specificity is one of the main training principles. That is you practice doing what you are going to be tested in, as such swimmers are not going to do as well as distance runners, and other athletes from similar backgrounds, because that is the movement being tested. Also why sprinters are absolutely rubbish at beep tests, they run for 10-25 seconds and use totally different energy systems, doesnt mean they're not fit. Another reason swimmers may perform more poorly is that they usually carry higher percentage levels of body fat as this aids in floatation. I know there is a beep test for water polo players so swimmers would probably get a more accurate score on that than running.

School ones are so dodgy. Everyone is liek ahead of the beep. And if you miss it by a bit you jsut keep going. Stupid. I got 10.6 but I do it legit
