I have switched most of my punting attention from horses, for the time being, to sports betting, mainly ice hockey and basketball and occational NFL. I will probably only bet twice a week (the days where there are at least 6 games I can bet on all played within a few hours of each other). I will usually bet on scores (total points over and under) to get the better odds. Unfortunately I dont get to watch the games often enough to really know good and bad defensive and offensive sides so most of the time Im just wingin it for some luck. My American brother in law is a sports freak and if I could get hold of him often enough, Im sure he could help, which brings me to the point of this thread. Even if you dont bet on the games, post your comments about what ever games you are genuinly interested in and how the result may pan out. For example, today, Dallas is playing Washington. Dallas only $1.08 to win but its $1.85 for them to win by more than 12.5. I think thats a good bet as you would think a 10/1 on fave should win easily. Cheers.

Cheers James. This is exactly the imput I am looking for. I see that the Eagles got 23.5 start and it would have been difficult to take the Eagles with that start, but $1.93 would have been a nice return.

Nice..all you had to do was put San Jose in there and you would have doubled your money. Plenty of hockey and basketball tomorrow. There are 6 winners out there, just need to find them.

Steelers to beat the Pats? Not too likely, but the odds are tasty.

I usually bet once a month on the Kings, supporting (mildly) them and all.

bettersideofdead, I follow the NBA (not as much as some others, though I have a pretty good idea) and could give you some help and also know quite a lot about MLB (though it's not season now). However, I know f@$k all about NHL or NFL, so don't ask about them!!

oh, also every week or so, the NBA.com website publishes a Power Rankings List which ranks the 30 teams, gives offensive and defensive stats, as well as a little comment from the writer. Here's the latest: http://www.nba.com/powerrankings/index.html

as for tomorrow, get on Phoenix -14.5 (paying $1.85 vs Clippers) and the Lakers -3.5 (also paying 1.85 vs Utah).

The clippers were f-ing embarrasing today at home against phoenix, scoring only 59 in the first three qtrs and will be lucky to not get thrashed again tomorrow.

As for the Lakers, they are in excellent form (8-2 in last 10) whilst the Jazz are 3-7 in their last 10. The Lakers are also at home, and the $1.85 is a fantastic price, I honestly could not believe my eyes when I read it!

also, although I might be a little biased, philly at $2.35 to beat sacramento at home is another good bet. We're starting to hit some form and while we've been quite poor at home this season, sacramento have been woeful on the road (3-10).

Tie the three into a multi, and you're looking at a very nice $8.04. Even with just the Lakers and Philly, you're looking at $4.35.

as it turns out, philly's away. I'm still confident we can win, but the price makes much more sense now

Good thread lads..

I've got an account at Sportstab. Started one up when I returned from O/S. Mainly for Rugby League but I have had a few punts on other things.

I backed Ottawa to win the Stanley Cup at 8/1 at the start of the year and had a little on Calgary at 16/1 (I lived there).

The Sens have been going pretty good and last season's champs, the Ducks of Anaheim, have been struggling a little.

Did you have a bet today?? I started going through some teams lastnight but left my list at home. Just as well, the draw bewteen Atlanta and Florida would have done me in anyway before I even look at the other results.
