Cannan and Threatt fire Big V attack on China

After a stellar 2008 season with their respective Big V clubs, Ash Cannan (Dandenong) and Sedale Threatt (Sandringham) are preparing to fly out to China as part of an ABA representative team.

Cannan and Threatt join a further seven players from various ABA conferences on the tour roster, which leaves on October 4.

The team will be lead by former Melbourne Tigers’ star and Australian basketball legend Andrew Gaze, with former Melbourne Tiger’s assistant coach Matt Ferrier on the coaching panel.

Both Big V players finished the regular season with stellar statistics – Cannan bagging an average of 21.9 points, 10.9 rebounds and three assists (as well as being named a forward in the Big V All Star side) with Threatt showing fine form with averages on 19.4 points, 4.1 rebounds and 5.5 assists in his guard position at the Sabres.

The tour has been extended to six matches in 2008 with Ferrier hoping to perform better than last year’s 3-2 record.

“We tour various parts of China, including Beijing, playing exhibitions games against the Chinese national league teams (CBA) in a warm-up to their upcoming season,” Ferrier explained.

“The games are played outside of the home team’s city, often in smaller cities nearby.”

The league congratulates both Cannan and Threatt on their selection.

Go the Big V, Sedalle was meant to be a Dragons development player and Ash Cannon was so they are both more than capable...

Apologies for the seemingly stupid question, but is he related to former Laker Sedale Threatt?
