Very suprised to see that charnoday hasn't already posted about this topic. I imagine it would be big news in Melbourne... oh sorry its positive news for the club, of course he wouldn't post about it. Melbourne are going to survive and I bet he would be spewing about that. Good on you MFC and you wealthy supporters!!! Thats reason you are the oldest sporting club in the World.

Didn't I read something the other day saying they were 5million in debt, and looked to loose another 3million this season?
Thats 8mill minus the 2mill they have just raised = - 6mill
not such a great position

While your at Collingwood did 40 years with no success Geelong did 40 + years with no flag as have St Kilda and the Bulldogs Sydney went 73 years or something how the hell did they last in the comp.... Richmond are 20 + years they must be close as well Easy way to make room for expansion the ossie way boot the teams that dont win. Would make for a sh it competition though no passion!!!

Heard Schwarta on the wireless - yeh d'sade I am disappointed another tin rattle may keep alive an otherwise 'dead horse' - no bums on seats, not wanted by sponsors, and loses half its potential members to a suburban cricket club. Tell me, of the funds pledged, how much normally is honoured? Full dollar you seem to reckon, maybe you could research that, unless you think I'm just being negative, maybe it doesnt matter ..........

easy to generalise about funds honoured, but this isnt a door knock appeal cretin. If you bother to read the article it was $1000 a ticket and minimum $5000 donation so even you can work out that it was $6000 per person to get in the door. Why don't t he AFL boot the blatant Tankers the West Coast Egirls. Sending half the team in for surgury mid season they are the ones discracing the competition, even Melbourne have enough heart to fight out the entire 22 rounds! When you mob has been around as long as Melbourne has they may develop something that money cant buy, PRIDE and Melbourne has pleaty of it, unlike the wegirls. That is why MFC will suvrive. One poor season and they cant fill subi anymore. Your fickle members rival Richmond. Subi will be full this week only because a true AFL power house is playing the wegirls there on Sunday. As for negative nearly every post you put on here is anti Vic and that is fact!

Door knock: what is the relevance here or to funds promised, not honoured? I didnt read the article, but having heard Schwarta explain how it worked, it was not as you claim ... Is any criticism of Victorian footy valid in your eyes?

http://www.afl.com.au/News/NEWSARTICLE/tabid/208/Default.aspx?newsId=64901There you go Cretin have a read, second paragraph, cant make it any easier then that for you. As for the door knock, you ask about funds honoured I can only assume you were generalising as you always do, in an attempt to make you point seem stronger than it actually is. Tell what were you refering to when you asked chardonnay wrote: Tell me, of the funds pledged, how much normally is honoured? How did the other clubs Hawthorn and Footscray survive in the 90's if the funds pledged to wipe out debt were not honoured? Did the creditors lower the debt to amount raised??? Do you really think that wealthy individuals whos deatils are on record as pledging X amount are going to dis honour a pledge and face public embaressment? Me thinks that you would. Criticism is health but you ONLY ever post negative. Why dont you have a research into the direction the new ground in WA is going to face? Or is that a bit touchy.... spent hundreds of millions of dollars of tax payer money to build a ground that faces the wrong way. What a farce!

Dear boy, as a Vic expat living in WA you have better access to what is wrong there - post it ! It doesnt make the press in Melbourne. This is my attitude - post things that go unnoticed by the local press corp, seduced by scones & a free beer. I try to follow the new oval in WA - I know the Eagles are going to follow Subi to Leederville Oval. Just as I criticise the MCC for its position funded by Aussie Rules, in WA footy should not fund a stadium to be tossed off whenever Union or soccer want. Dont wait to criticise my view d'sade, sock us with what you think. Criticism is cheap, I'd love to see the WA issue discussed, I wont support it just because WA is being criticised - go for it !!

You only post things that go unnoticed. What a joke. All you ever post is things that are in the press, how else would you get your info? You are not privey to the inner circles. Why did you avoid answering the other questions I put to you re pledges honoured and what you claim was my mis information regarding the Melbourne fund raising event? Could it be that you were WRONG!!!

If I am wrong on the Melbourne fund raiser it is because I did not understand what David Schwartz said - I understood pledges started at $250. As for the door knock - my experience of a door knock or a tin rattle is you put the cash in. A pledge like a Telethon or Good Friday Appeal is you claim you will some time in the future. Understand there is a difference. Things that go unnoticed: the MCG issue I bang on about. People know about it, but accept the MCC is a special body, spin doctors and all. A club with 55,000 members with special rights funded by the taxpayer. I dont, tell me when you have seen it exposed. That is what I call unnoticed by a press seduced by scones & a free beer. By the way David Shwartz sat next to Peter French from the MCC at the fundraiser - do you think French pulled $6k out of his pocket & kicked in, hello!! Back to the WA issue, post it, be pro active not a sniper.

Perhaps someone else was listening to SEN that day. Did you pick up on the oh so subtle difference between a door knock & a pledge .... good, now google the funds collected versus funds pledged issue.

I guess we will never know. Don't you think it would be fair to assume that at such a high end affair, the names and dollar amounts pledged by individuals would be recorded?? It would be a tad embarrassing for those making a pledge to renege at a later date. As you pointed out there were, allegedly, members of the elitist MCC in attendance. They wouldn't want to tarnish there reputation would they????? edit: as for googling funds pledged V's collected I had a look and can't seem to find you magic source of fictional stats. Perhaps you might go out of your way a provide a link. But knowing your past form, its a pretty safe bet that you wont provide diddly squat.

If it faced the other way, 90deg to what subi does, then the sun wouldn't be in the players eyes. Watch a game a subi comparded to the G the sun is always in the players eyes at one end. The new ground is going to be built facing the same direction as subi. MCG faces east west subi faces north south
