I was recently in Greece and watched them win a tournament (which Australia was involved in) with ease... Greece also managed to beat Australia by 21 points with the starting 5 playing only approx 50% of the game... We must not forget that Greece also defeated the US in the world's...
Have a feeling they will win it with the top 4 being : 1. Greece 2. Spain 3. US 4. Australia
Hoping though that Australia can will a medal... Go AUSSIES

Granted, they did play well, but thats also because they match up very well against the US. There is no guaruntee they will even make it past their group, and if they do, they will have a very tough quarterfinal... I predict Argentina, Russia & Croatia are definately through in Group A, and it'll be a s***** between Lithuania & the Boomers for the final spot. And Lithuania are a decent side, they have Jasikevicious who did very well against the US. And in the quarters, they'll come up against (probably) Germany, Greece, Spain or USA. I doubt they can beat either of these sides. I reckon quarterfinal exit is on the cards

usherprince that is the most flawed theory i have ever heard, how about you realise that just because the nbl is dead doesnt mean the oz bball team is, check the way we've been playing, besides angola we have been getting through our sets and playing great d, germany arent all they are cracked up to be other than dirk (and yes i know they have kaman) russia are very hot cold, and youre way overrating croatia, they are good but not amazing

Australia will probably finish 3rd in Group A, maybe 2nd if they play very well. In saying that, getting 1st isnt a pipedream, they are good enough to finish on top. I feel that they would be a bit screwed if they were in Group B.

I think you need to re-read my post... Croatia 97 Boomers 82...Need I say more. 3pt Shooter wrote:I agree, I find Croatia to be over-rated. I think i'm lucky enough not being an Australian supporter that I don't get overcome by national pride, and actually can see that the Boomers aren't as good as Australians think they are. I can't wait to say a big "I told you so" in a weeks time!

Well, I was disappointed with how they played last night. Croatia schooled them. It was as if Australia was the over-rated team, not Croatia. BTW - National Pride? You say that like it is a bad thing. Australia are a good team, they are ranked equal 9th in the world. What I dont like is people like yourself sitting there saying "I think i'm lucky enough not being an Australian supporter that I don't get overcome by national pride, and actually can see that the Boomers aren't as good as Australians think they are." Lucky??? What has that got to do with luck? As for the scoreline, it was more Croatia shooting the lights out than the Boomers stumbling (however, they were rusty). Can you say that you can do any better? It is easy to knock someone else when they are down. What you dont realise is, its the negativity that we dont like. Barrack for whoever you like, but go toot your own horn somewhere else.

that was australias worst game of the year by far, they looked horrible and it didnt helop that our best player only disrupted our offence and threw turnovers because he was injured, its not national that makes me think they r good mate, its facts and figures, granted last night they were horrible i will admit that, but croatia also played extremely well

I'll just offer my two cents and say that from what I saw on channel 7 last night, Croatia played some brilliant team basketball. I haven't seen the ball moved that well in a long time and for me it was no fluke that they shot 68% - so many of their shots were wide open and relatively uncontested. All of their passes were well executed, was very nice to watch. Gaze was right during the call, there wasn't enough pressure on the ball handler in the half court and you could hear him getting frustrated by it all. Hopefully Goorj rips into them after that one and we see an effort with more intensity against Lithuania

What I mean is that often the heart can take over the mind. I know last year I rated the Nuggets higher then what i should have because I am a fan, I even bet on them to beat the Lakers in the playoffs . My perception of them was affected by my pride in the team. 3pt_shooter wrote:It was as if Australia was the over-rated team, not Croatia This is a great example. I'm sure in Croatia they felt that there team was UNDER-rated, and probably thought Australia were OVER-rated. All you gotta look at is the TAB, where Croatia were favourites. 3pt_shooter wrote:Can you say that you can do any better? It is easy to knock someone else when they are down. Of course I can't do better, no one here can, thats a *****king stupid argument and proves nothing. I'm not trying to be negetive. Everyone on the forum was saying why Australia can win, so I gave my thoughts on why Australia won't win.. & 'Bird' shoots it down as "the most flawed theory he has ever heard"...whose the negetive one

Fair enuff. Unlike some other people, who shall remain nameless, you can actually explain yourself. Totally understand dude. All good, I apologise.
