Where do you all think he ranks on the big scale?
Top 10 centre of all time?
If he had of come to the NBA at the peak of his playing career, I think he would have been big, considering how effective he was there when he ageing.

All I remember of him was him dominating an olympics and completley outclassing the Boomers.

Cab remember when it was though

Given the lack of impact historically of old-time NBA players, I'd suggest that within the International game, maybe he is.
NBA, no.
In no particular order for centers, you have Mikan, Jabbar, Chamberlain, Russell, O'Neal, Ewing, Olujawon, Parish, Moses Malone, David Robinson, Tim Duncan, Dolph Schayes, and Bill Walton.

Arvydas Sabonis was good... but not that good.

yeah probably a stretch, I am too young to have seen him play in his prime but from what my mates dad told me he was awesome to watch as he went to a few of his games..

watching some of his highlights..he was quite a beast but so agile and had awesome hands and passing skills for someone standing 7"3 , almost 300 pounds. + he had range

Definately not based on his nba days by the way..he was like 30+ when he joined..I was wondering more if he DID play in the NBA when he was in his prime

Agreed - on him being an awesome player, but he wasn't a beast. He wasn't as strong as you'd guess from someone his size - at least, he didn't play that way. His range was bit of a problem for the traditional centers like O'Neal...

Have you ever heard of Nick Galis from Greece? apparently was the best European player ever.
Averaged 33 ppg in the 86 world championships

I would you classify Duncan as a centre though. Its strongly debated that his more of a PF then a C.

I tend to think of Duncan more of a C than a PF but that could just be me

If Arvydas had of come to the NBA in his prime i think we would have been an all time great, heck he was well above average as an injury depleted old man...would have loved to have seen him in his prime but ah well

I also agree that Duncan is more of a centre, especially now. He will always be regarded as a PF because when he came into the league that's where he played for the the first four or five seasons. D-Rob obviously being the centre.
