what happens if your parents are Australian and say your father was an origin legend. But you were brought up in say NZ could you play origin...

Even more hair splitting what happens if your parents were both aboriginal but you were brought up overseas?...(id love to see how the NRL would handle this one)

the first one could definately go either way. cos if u have some part Aussie ud be easily placed in the side, but it will probably go on a) where u played ur first footy, and b) where u dedicate ur allegance to

the 2nd one i think would go the way of the player cos i can just see now all the pressure from the media and the public on the NRL for it to go ur way.

u know wat i mean? Smile

It all depends on in which state, either QLD or NSW you played a game of a certain level above the age of 16, if you never play in Australia you logically than can't play Origin. It has nothing to do with Birth place or parents like international footy. Even if your first game in Australia was at NRL level, that game would still determine which state you could play for, this is however unlikely, unless you choose to play for NZ than you can't play Origin untill you live in Aust for 3 years or whatever and if you stop playing for New Zealand. Somthing like that anyway.

Same principle applies as before, as I said Origin has nothing to do with Heritage it's where you play your first game at a certain level, so untill you came and played in Aust you couldn't play Origin.

How is one different from the other? In both cases, your parents are "Australian".

This is pretty easy but i haven't read all responses.

In either scenario, as long as you have committed to playing for australia then it is where you played your first senior game of footy IN australia. SO you may have lived all you life in NZ to australian parents and played for the warriors and if you came to australia for the first time with their first grade side and played against the roosters, then you'd be eligible for NSW but if you played against the Titans you be eligible for Qld. If you played v Melbourne then it would count and it would be you next game in either NSW or QLd. As long as you have said you are eligible for and choose the Australina jumper it is ok.
