I have no idea where you guys are getting this sense of urgency from. It'd actually behoove you to NOT make the playoffs this year. Honestly: you're not going to make much noise if you DO make it, so wouldn't a higher draft pick and Yao back make for a better year? I never said we should definitely trade Battier, but I definitely think we should consider it if it's going to be for the better. I think if we can get Butler and Haywood in that trade for McGrady, I think that makes us quite a bit better, and would probably get us a 4th or 5th seed depending on what other teams around us do.

Nah... the Battier bit was to Kingsy.
I think Houston are going to struggle to get INTO the playoffs. I cannot see them getting a 4th/5th seed. Reiterating: why worry about this season at all?

I worry about this season because before it started, I thought we'd win about 30 games max, but now, because we're in Playoff contention, I think it's worth fighting for. And I really do think with Butler and Haywood we can get 4th to 5th. But as constructed, 7th or 8th is the best we can do.

Don't take this the wrong way, but I don't see Houston as a playoff team as currently constructed. I think the first part of the season, the team got by on adrenaline and fire - what we're seeing now is what the team really is.

The Rockets best is up there with the best teams but they have lapses in games that cost them and these lapses have cost them at least 7-8 games where they had a double digit lead. There is no use throwing a season just for a small chance you will get a good draft pick.If the Rockets can get a good deal for McGrady, they can make the playoffs there is no doubt and meeting the Lakers in the first round would be awesome and fun,i know we would push them again.

January: 5-9. I think that's who the Rockets are at the moment. And I also think they're better off worrying about the following season than this one. A good trade, and you could have a very nice team next season.

Usher is probably still trying to recover from foaming in his mouth after Vince poured in 48 today,Stojakovic got 29 for the Hornets,as both played like it was 2003-04 again

Steph Curry puts up the dumbest shots sometimes,he dribbled to the far corner and just put up an off balance very high 3 point shot which missed the rim and everything but a team mate was there and got it and put it back in for 2 and Curry got the assist, even though it was never an assist, sometimes i wonder about the assist numbers in this game.

Damn good game between the Kobe/Bynum-less Lakers and the Spurms... but a BIG shoot-out between Dallas and Golden State. Anthony Morrow lighting it up from behind the line. 5 3s, 31 points, 9 boards and 4 dimes.

And it's over. LA win 101-89, after the Spurs lead after the 1st (34-28 ). Gasol was HUGE, 21 pts, 19 boards, 8 assists and 5 blocks. Hell, throw in a steal.

Mike Bianchi of the Orlando Sentinel: "Dwight Howard put it best Monday night. 'Oh my God,' Dwight said after Vince Carter scored 48 in the Magic’s 123-117 victory over the New Orleans Hornets, 'Vinsanity is back!' We echo those sentiments. Oh my God, did you see Vinsanity Monday night? Driving to the hoop for dipsy-doodle scoops. Nailing 3-pointers. Crossover dribbles that tied defenders up in knots. Wow -- 48 points, 19-of-27 shooting and 6-of-10 from 3-point range. Just wow. This is the Vince Carter Magic fans have been waiting for ever since the deal was made during the offseason to bring Vince to town. Not that he has to score nearly 50 points to justify his worth to the team, but he does need to be able to occasionally take over games and lead the Magic to victory. Fans don’t want to boo Carter like they have recently; they want to cheer him like they did Monday night. They want to believe the Magic did the right thing when they gambled after going to the Finals last season, retooled their team and brought in Carter."
