Is anyone else sick of watching womens tennis? Quite honestly i can't stand it anymore, why is it that every single woman seems to have to grunt at near lion like decibels (apparently sharapova's scream is 10 decibels less than i lions roar) and yet we only see men occasionally do ala rafa at times when there going for a full blown winner. This has completely gotten out of control. To further make the point in dementeva's match she bloody screamed when she hit a drop shot. A ***king drop shot are you kidding me!!!. On top of this we have to endure this screaming when they come into the net, serve and just about every single shot in the book. Now i dont hear it so much at junior levels so why are these senior and supposed 'professionals' doing it. You say you want even pay and yet you cant even play a match which isn't a short and complete annoyance. I just wanted to know if other people were completely fed up with it.

who grunts a slice? fair dinkum. a lot of the players legitimately grunt because they just do when they hit a ball, but Venus and Serena doing it when they slice is pathetic. Chris Evert keeps whinging about it - she should just shutup and keep her husband stealing business up.

Its okay to do it when you have been playing for 4 sets or 3 for women. But the women seem to do it from the first point of the match to the last. unacceptable

Grunting/shrieking is one of the main reasons I can't stand to watch womens tennis matches. I like hearing the natural pop of the ball against the strings too much. I can handle grunting where it's secondary to the match, i.e. the grunt is emitted as an exertion of force when hitting the ball. But when it comes to Sharapova, Williams sisters, etc. I feel like the grunting requires more effort than hitting the ball.
However, I don't play competitive tennis like these girls, so maybe it is a natural reaction for them? It could be extremely difficult to stifle. Personally, I'd prefer it a lot more if it could be toned down.

I think there have been a few yesteryear pro female tennis stars, Martina Navratilova and Chris Evert who have come out and slammed modern day female tennis players for excessive unnecessary grunting, shrieking and just plain noise pollution and it is offputting to not only the spectators but the opponent.
Tennis is as much about concentration as it is about hitting the ball and sticking to a game plan and it would be highly distracting.

It stinks. Pay should be inversely tied to the shrieking. That would shut Maria Sharapova up in a hurry.
