PREMIER team Manly will announce its new jersey sponsor this week after six weeks of negotiations. The three-year deal with an eco-friendly goods manufacturer will contribute $900,000 a season to the Sea Eagles' coffers.
"We originally floated the prize at $1million, which in our eyes was always inflated," Manly chief executive Grant Mayer said.
"So we're very happy with what we've finally agreed to."
It will replace the familiar Delmege Commercial name from the front of the first-grade jersey, although Max Delmege remains as a 40 per cent owner of Manly along with Scott Penn.
Manly was on the brink of financial collapse when Delmege, now 63, stepped in midway through the 2002 season after the joint-venture Northern Eagles collapsed in 2001.
"Max had indicated he wanted another year but as the (200 finals approached he basically thought the time was right now to step down.
"So we started looking around just before the finals series started," Mayer said. "We've been speaking to the new sponsor for a month to six weeks now.
"They came knocking just prior to the grand final and the premiership win certainly reinforced the brand's worth.
"They're football people and they want to be involved."
Mayer was tight-lipped on the identity of the new rights sponsor.
"It's an interesting mix but a good one for us," said Mayer, who has gone to great lengths to bring families back to the football.heheh whats an eco-friendly goods manufacturer??

Even souths shirt sponsorship is worth more than that.
Poor effort from the blokes running the show there.
