It also requires you to play in a team without too many star players, as the points get spread throughout the star players in the team. The Broncos have always had great players in there team.
Danny buderus only needed to walk on the field to get 1 point. That was a joke

Sorry, but that's an excuse that doesn't wash. There are at least 15 winners from teams who were packed with internationals, from Ray Price in 1982 to Cam Smith in 2006. This isn't meant to bash Lockyer, merely to point out that a consistently dominant player will win the awards regardless of the players around them. How else do you explain Langers 1996 win? Stuarts win in 1993?

Its also very unreliable. I mean Buderus winning it was a complete joke, he'd have a shocker and still get 2 points.
Johns was another good example, he was getting votes in games he had absolutely no influence over.
But it is a shame he never did and never probably will win a Dally M. You'd think with a couple golden boots he'd have gone closer.

That's why andrew johns was a league great. He was a playmaker that could tackle. Lockyer simply couldn't make the defensive adjustments from fullback to 5/8. Only thing stopping him from greatness.
