The rugby fans on Sportal seem to dislike Tahu.
Tahu left league as a great league player representing his state and country, so obvisiously this guy must have some skill.
However moving to rugby, it seems the fans have not embraced him. Many people thinks he actually sucks @ss.
I say Tahu is a good player and that maybe its possible Rugby Australia has let him down.
If Tahu choose to be an All Black would NZ rugby have done a better job with Tahu?
Or is it simply the man is just not cutting it with the game and the fans.

We have better centers than Tahu at the moment. He's just a waste, I think he'll go back to league or onto Europe once his contract is over here.

Granted he has tremendous skill and ability, but a lame duck is still a lame duck

So if Tahu went to NZ rugby instead of Australian Rugby he would still be the same?
NZ rugby did a good job with Brad Thorn so maybe not.
But then we will never know.

But then we will never know. he'd never get a chance in new zealand, he'd be competing with nonu, kahui, smith, and maybe even carter. not a chance, he doesnt have the skills for their super quick speed of attack.

One of the big problems with Tahu is that he was brought into the fold with huge amounts of fanfare and pre-praise, especially by the Warratahs (whom he barely played for, and then on the wing...) but wasn't able to live up to his plaudits.
Plus his shocker in SA is going to linger in Aus memory for a long time...

And how beneficial could all that money have been to nurture and promote a rugby player through the ranks. Makes me bloody sick to my eyeballs all this money being spent on has been league players to provide their retirement fund only to see them falter. This guy should have had more time in S14 on not so much money to gauge his sincerity, suitability toplay rugby and his fitness.

While Tahu's skill as a league player was in the top 10% of players he still can't read backline moves defensively... Again an opposition team scored due his poor defence. Even Italy can show him up and therefore he has to be considered a liability in the backs for the Wallabies. Nothing personal against the guy but you have to call a spade a spade and the fact that teams exploit his defensive shortcomings game after game puts a lot of pressure on him...

Are you kidding me? You're saying Australian rugby lets down league players more than NZ rugby? Ahem, Tuqiri, Rodgers, Sailor, Cross etc.
Tahu just needs to read the defense better. Great ball runner and 1 on 1 defender. Still, Barnes, Mortlock and Cross are all better than him. NZ need him more.

NZ need him more. your right, and i think half the problem is there is this perception out there, thanks in no small part to the success of tuqiri and co., that good leaguies automatically make great rugby union players (certainly it comes out in every league v union argument) anyway we all know that is ***** and that in fact those blokes who were successful can attribute it to the efforts of their respective coaches, and their desire to train and learn the game. Somewhere along the line that has either broken down for tahu or quite simply, he just needs more time! In any case, we aren't just giving him a hard time cause we don't like the look of him

Er, no we dont. Kahui has similar physical attributes but with the benefit of a rugby upbringing which makes him far more effective. Not to mention even more time to develop further given he's five years younger. This time next year Kahui will be our first choice 13 in my opinion. And possibly even playing alongside an inside back combination of Carter and McAllister. Throw in a back three of Muliaina, Sivivatu and Rockocoko and we're almost back to the heady days of Cullen, Lomu, Umaga and co... I dont doubt Tahu is a tremendous talent but will all due respect, I'm glad his rugby education is your problem and not ours.
