Here's somewhere to post all things Sheffield Shield and Ryobi Cup.
Early goings yet but SOK has picked up the only two wickets to fall for NSW against WA. Maybe putting his hand up at the right time for a tour of India.
Disappointed not to see Adam Zampa in the team as well. In a country crying out for a quality wrist spinner you would think they would give him a chance to play as much Shield Cricket as possible.
Also why in the hell isn't Kane Richardson playing for South Australia? Surely he is a better bowler than the likes of Joe Mennie, Daniel Worral and Chadd Sayers.

Kane Richardson needs some remedial coaching on his action first, because of his back foot landing right in the middle of the danger zone. There's a chance he'd get banned for running on the pitch if he bowled in the Shield match with his current action.

The player that the selectors have over looked for years when searching for an opener scored another 100 today albeit only against Sth Aust, it is to late for him now but Rogers (35yo) still maintains a 49.75 ave at 1st class level. Ed Cowans Ave less than 40

WA 9/232 at stumps no 50's and O'Keefee took 3 wickets. Won't know until NSW bats on this wicket

Agree on Rogers Opaque. I think he has a bit of the Brad hodge complex, in that he doesn't fit into the team unity, or something like that. Or at least that was the knock on him previously. But his record is outstanding. Both he and DHussey have got to be stiff, having the FC records they do to be continually over-looked.
Good to see the Shield back. Love seeing real cricket played.
Interesting SOK bowled first change, bouyed by the reports inthe Sydney media he's a chance for the indian tour?? Good to see him take wickets though. Talented player, both with bat and bowl.
I like that Handscomb made runs for the Vics today. Good talented kid.

The only test he played was when Hayden was injured at the WACA, and when Hayden was injured again in the WI's and Katich gain selection. Similar to watch happened to Love from QLD just the wrong time. States second string W/Kers coming to the fore again

Nathan Lyon again 0-77. I've been a proponent of him since he debuted but I'm starting to think maybe we should look at someone else for the Ashes. The Poms have alot of righthanders in their team which doesn't suit Lyon at all.
We should definately take O'Keefe to India. And if he outbowls Lyon there I see no reason why we shouldn't take him to England. He has the advantage of spinning the ball away from the right hander (England will have 6 of their top 7 as right handers). Plus he adds very handy depth with the bat that Lyon does not.
Lyon is just not taking wickets. Even at State level. And he doesn't bring enough to the table in other aspects (economical bowling, fielding, batting etc) to warrant us overlooking O'Keefe if the latter is performing well.

I still can't believe Hauritz was shafted when he was. I was never a fan of his and definitely not a fan of his initial selection, but he did better than Lyon has done in the last couple of years.

Lyon has taken over from Hussey in the gully, and is now the keeper of the team song.
Like it or not, he's not going anywhere.

Victoria has gone from 2/279 to 8/315. NSW 0/53 after WA all out 242. Interesting matches in prospect.

Like it or not, he's not going anywhere. Given how many spinners we have tried and then discarded post-Warney, which idiot decided Lyon should be the keeper of the song (isn't it the last keeper or something)??????

I agree but given Hauritz's extraordinary sook that involved garage sale'ing his Aussie tracksuit, the bloke well and truly joined the Brad Hodge club....

Jesus Christ. Smith the Unworthy gets a fifty against the bottom-of-the-ladder team that includes 2 debutantes, on a ground where no player from WA has never played before - and the headline articles are talking about his test come-back.
Give me a break. The guy's papers have been stamped. Let us never mention him again.
