So Mckenzie has signed on till 2014 which means that when Deans' contract ends we either have to retain Deans (seems likely) or find someone new (like who?)

oh well, at least we have him in Queensland and he hasnt gone to coach england or something, that would suck.

In his last contract there was apparently a clause in it which said if he was invited to coach a national side he would be released by the QRU. Without actually knowing, I'd guess it'll be the same this time. I'm most excited about his idea of creating a Reds dynasty Smile

yeah in regards to that
"That's a fair way down the track and there would have to be a fair amount of dialogue that all parties are involved in to allow the delivery to be right for the game," QRU chief executive Carmichael said of a possible move by the ARU to procure McKenzie.

Anyone remember circa 2006 after the year McKenzie had with the Tahs and he turned down the Wallabies position then he get sacked the next year, though I hope it doesn't happen again...

Great to see him commit long term. His done wonders in the last year turning perennial cellar dwellers in to the current reining premiers of super rugby. I'm actually contemplating getting a membership to the reds this year to go along with my broncos membership.

Hey BTW hobo, can we change this thread to Reds 2012? I figure it might as well be.

Scratch that... I see now. I didn't know you could do it.

I see the Reds are giving away a free DVD of the GF with every membership sold. I'm wondering if any of you knows where you can buy this from? I want one to add it to my Brisbane Roar GF win DVD.

We miss out on the Canes and Cheetahs. Two easy wins IMO. I wonder if people will keep complaining about the draw this year.

In fairness, those complaints do still hold true.

How? Beat all the other top 6 teams at least once, the 2nd best team at home and the 3rd and 4th best teams twice. We lost to 2 Australian teams (Brumbies and Tahs) out of the weakest conference, and the Hurricanes (NZ's 4th worst team).
Crusaders and Blues had two chances to beat the Reds and could not, even with Bryce Goldfish helping them in the final.

Reds were the best team, other teams just couldn't beat the Reds when they had the chance.

Reds/Waratahs get to play the Force and Rebels twice each.
Bulls/Sharks/Stormers get to play the Cheetahs and Lions twice each.

Yes the Blues and Crusaders lost to the Reds, but the reality is that the system remains in place and, as with last year, those two have a harder schedule than the big Australian and South African teams. And as with last year, the Blues and Crusaders will have an uphill battle to get to the final two, which comes with its own advantages in the final 6.

Watch for a South African and Australian team to make up one and two this year at the end of the round robin.

Hmm, "perennial cellar dwellers" - that's a bit harsh...a few years in the wilderness and people seem to have forgotten the early years of Super Rugby when the Reds were in fact a championship team...
